Coming to Chicago

My DH and I will be in Chicago this weekend and are looking for something to do on Friday.  We have been to the Navy Pier and Michigan Ave. before, is there anything we absolutely have to do?  We are staying at the Westin Michigan Ave. so any suggestions around there would be great.  Also, if you have suggestions on where to eat, that would be much appreciated.

TIA!

  • metromix.com is always where I go to see what's going on in the city on a certain day. It'll also give you a good idea on places to eat

  • Hi!

I have lived in downtown Chicago for the past 6 years so I know a lot about the city. My husband and I just bought a condo in the John Hancock Building which is right across the st from where you are staying so we go out a lot in that general area. :)

    For Breakfast -

    • The Pancake House - 22 East Bellevue Place, Chicago, IL?
    • Yolk - 747 North Wells Street, Chicago, IL?
(I haven't been here to Yolk yet but I've heard it's really good!) You'll have to wait around 30mins ish at both places but the line goes really fast at the Pancake House!

    For Dinner -
    • I'm not sure if you and your husband like sushi but we love it and our favorite sushi place is Sushi O Sushi (346 West Armitage Avenue Chicago, IL). Order the Armitage Roll! :)
    • One of our favorite restaurants is Bandera and it's located right on the magnificent mile! You can make reservations so I would but it's amazing food at a reasonable price. Here's their address and #: 535 North Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 60611 (312) 644-3524

As for things to do - have you been to the Shedd Aquarium? That's always really fun! I know you said you've been to Navy Pier but they have really fun boat rides!

    I hope this helps!

Let me know if you need other ideas! :)

  • I have a list of my favorite restaurants in my bio.   Feel free to take a look and let me know if you have any questions.

The Chicago River boat tours are up and running again, and if the weather is nice, I highly recommend the architectural boat tours...  they are fantastic.   the new Modern Wing at the Art Institute is also worth a visit if you're a museum lover.

Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • I second metromix

You could go to the cubs game tomorrow night!  Or just hang out at a bar in wirgleyville watching the game and enjoying the atmosphere.

  • There are still lots of Cubs tix available for the Friday afternoon game, or since it will be "warm," the architectural boat tours are highly recommended, like PP said.  Have fun :)
