Green odor eliminator??

We just moved into a new place with lots of new construction smells I want to get rid of.  I have kept windows open etc to air out the place, but it is still there.   Any ideas?  I don't want to go around spraying Lysol or other chemicals into the air....

Re: Green odor eliminator??

  • You can always make your own homemade fragrance by boiling orange rinds on the stove with some other natural ingredients. Also, have you tried essential oil burners? Those are great at getting a smell out.
  • I was going to say that while it's not the greenest thing, we still buy Method's spray (non-aerosol) air freshener for our bathroom.  But then I went to Method's site to give you the ingredients and it would seem they don't make it anymore.  Bah.

  • Have you tried wiping down whatever you can with diluted white vinegar and leaving a box of baking soda in each room?

  • If there is carpet, sprinkle baking soda on and let it sit for a while (as long as you can -- a few hours) before vacuuming it up.  You could also look into an air filter.  It would be expensive to have them around the house, but you could invest in one or a couple and move them around to help clear the air.
