Tiny Tot Tuesday

how are they? big and small, tell all.

Re: Tiny Tot Tuesday

  • Last week when I had that rough day, I apologized to Allison. I told her I was sorry for snapping at her. She put her arm around my shoulder and said "that's ok mom." I told her that I loved her and she told me "I love you too!"

Yesterday, we sat outside to eat dinner. We have a little picnic table for the girls that we just got down from the garage, so Allison rediscovered it. I put her on one side and Amelia on the other. Allison grabbed her plate and sat next to Mia. She put her around Mia's back and was rubbing her back and feeding her the veggies straws on her plate. Brian and I just sat there and watched the two of them. It was so stinkin sweet.

We now have a reward chart for Allison for dinner and lunch. There were a few things going on that were getting out of hand in terms of getting up and down and not trying food, so we thought we would try out a chart. Since the reward is going to the ice cream shop, we didn't want to make it too tough to fill up the chart (because Brian and I don't want too wait too long ourselves Big Smile). She has to get 10 stickers. She filled up the chart yesterday and was so excited.

Amelia like to pretend she is going to do something she shouldn't be doing and then when I "catch" her, she wags her finger at me because I would always wag it at her and say "No, No"...so she thinks it is hilarious to do that.

  • Aw, so cute!  They are getting so big!
  • My nearly-two-year-old has started to talk back. Catching him doing something he wasn't supposed to, I said, "Caleb, stop that!" and he retorted, with an impish grin, "You sop dat!"

He has also begun to say, I love you, Mommy" quite often.

It all comes out in the wash. ;)

  • I love the whole learning to talk through about 2nd grade.  They say the best things.
  • MereBear said Dada and KittyKittyKitty today! She whispers kitty... it's so cute. I asked her where the kitty was and she pointed, so I know she knows the word. She's almost walking. I bought her some Egg Cha Cha's (shaker eggs) and she knows what those are, too. She shakes those things like crazy. Best $2 ever spent. My 9 month old threw a fit in Target last night over a toy (ELMO!) and my softy of an H went back and got it for her. My H is now not allowed to go shopping with us :o

  • Ben still doesn't say any words, but I know he understands a lot.  If I ask him where something is (cat, dog, fish, ball, cup, book, etc) he will point at it or go over to it.  People are starting to ask me if I am worried that he isn't talking yet, and though I am not worried those comments make me worry a little.  He hit all of his physical milestones early, so I think his verbal skills will come with a little time.

He *does* babble Mama a lot, so I'll take that ;)

He's fine. I hate when people say crap like that. My aunt, of all people, said that Mere throwing herself backwards is a sign of autism. She does it because she thinks it's funny. Why worry a mom like that? Ben is fine. :o

That's funny.  She looks so pretty in her pink dress.

He is only a year old!  I think my 4yo nephew was around 18 mos before he said basic things like "uh oh" and "up".  I'm sure he is fine and you have nothing to worry about.

  • People say such strange, strange things.  I'd like to think that most of the time they aren't intended to be harmful, but it can still be unsettling.

I went to a baby shower a couple of weeks ago, and the woman next to me proceeded to tell me this story about her son's friend who lost his wife a day after she delivered their son six months ago (they don't know why), and just went on and on about it.  It didn't upset me, but is that really the only thing you've got to talk about with the pregnant chick sitting next to you?  At a baby shower.  It just screams awkward to me.

Anyway, back to tiny tots...I'm doing well.  My sciatic nerve is on the fritz.  Even with my numerous attempts at chiro adjustments, the baby just wants to sit where it causes me pain.  I got some relief yesterday for a few hours, but baby moved again, so everytime I need to move my right leg, bend, lean, stand, start walking, I have piercing pain in my lower back and right leg.  Hopefully it doesn't last the next three months.  Or I suppose I'll just get used to it.

Other than that, no complaints.  I have my glucose/diabetes test today.  Wish the carb addict luck!  LOL.  I also saw my stomach move for the first time on the outside last week.  That was pretty interesting!

Nursery is coming along.  Shower invites went out.  Maternity pics scheduled.  Hmm, I think that's about it.

I've got three weeks worth of bump photos to post (I'm behind), so I'll try to get those up for the next tiny tot post.

    Thx for the updates, chicas.

OMG yes - when I was PG I heard everyone's horror stories.  Like, please do not tell me anything that ends up in death.  Why people think that is ok is beyond me.  Then I had one coworker ask which OB I was seeing (in Flint) and when I told her she practically yelled, "oh NO you better switch. He delivered my grandson and I'm pretty sure he came to the hospital drunk!" Umm, ok.  I doubt it.

And your nursery looks gorgeous, I checked out the blog pics and I love all that you are doing!
