Please rec vaccum cleaner

Could anyone please recommend a compact vacuum cleaner?

We need something that fits in a small closet and is powerful enough to get my hair from every corner.

  • I have an electrolux canister. It's pretty strong and definitely compact, but it did come with a big price tag (thanks mom and dad for paying for it).

  • I like my Kenmore Progressive.  It gets consistently good reviews.
  • I will always recommend a Dyson --- I have the one with the ball and it fits in one of my smaller closets.  Another good one that I use for the stairs is the Eureka shark.  I have a dog who gets hair everywhere and both of those are perfect for the job.
  • While my dyson is not compact (I have the animal) I would recommend any dyson.  Anyone who I know who has one loves one.  My MIL has one that is smaller, I think they same one as MissesMH, it is yellow with a ball.
  • I just bought a Hoover Flair stick vac for about $40 on Walmart.com with $1 shipping after reading great reviews online.  I was sweeping every week and vaccuuming my rugs with a Dustbuster until I bought this.  The stick vac does the trick and picks up everything without blowing anything around, but we have hardwoods and just two medium sized rugs (it also works well on the rugs).  It was the perfect solution for our skinny utility closet.  I also love how easily it goes under the bed.  I can't explain it, but it swivels and turns and somehow gets under the furniture.
