DH and I are hooked on Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara. I think they're available on Netflix.
I also have a HUGE list of interesting documentaries in my Netflix, if you want to be Netflix friends.
Mad Men. I thought it was depressing at first but it's so great I got over it. I've actually contemplated upping our membership so I could get more episodes at once.
Weeds was good for the first several seasons but then I felt like it got just a little bit too crazy.
Entourage is also a good one.
We're total documentary junkies. Here are a few of our faves.
Born into Brothels
The Business of Being Born
Food Inc
The Future of Food
The Union
Helvetica
Flow: For the Love of Water
Girls Rock! (It's about the Rock n Roll Camp for Girls here in PDX)
Also, here's a few non-documentary types.
Machuca
Milk
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Anything by Pedro Almodovar
That's all I can think of right now off the top of my head.
Oy, SD, I went through serious withdrawals after the Twilight series. I was totally meh about it but then once I read them I couldn't put them down. I read the whole series in a week. Have you read any of Anne Rice's stuff? A far better author and the stories are great. If you were looking for a vampire fix recommendation.
I like TV shows more than movies.
So I'd probably do:
Firefly
True Blood
Gilmore Girls
Buffy
Angel
Pushing Daisies
Rome
Sex and the City
Merlin is a good show that they air on the BBC. They aired the first season on ABC or something last summer, but they're not airing the second season in the US as far as I know. If they have that I'd suggest watching it. We totally downloaded the season 2 episodes like little pirates because we liked the first season so much. I'm dying for season 3 to start this fall. : )
I guess my one movie suggestion is Stardust.
I haven't yet...but I LOVED Interview with a Vampire so I'm sure they are terrific. Twilight series wasn't exactly a literay work of art...but I am going to be sad when it's over! I've actually read the series over 4 months (I know, crazy, right?)

The bolded part made me gigglesnort. But it's true.
I bet you'd be sadder for the series to end if you had gone to a midnight release party for Breaking Dawn and had your ears bleed because of the little tweens, stayed up all night reading it, and woke up the next morning to your two fish named Edward and Bella dead in their respective aquariums. Not that I would know, or anything. Or would be dorky enough to name fish after Twilight characters.
I think my coworker's partner aptly called it "literary crack". You know it's not good and it's not good for you but you can't put it down.
OK...now THAT part made ME gigglesnort! That's awesome...not that I'm assuming it's you or anything. No..no, not at all.
And I love "literary crack!" awesome description!

Literary crack is the perfect description for Twilight!
