For my DD's 2nd birthday. There will be plenty of adults. It will be outside. I'm trying to keep my costs down. (Who isn't?)
This is what I'm thinking, but I really want your suggestions!
bbq pork sandwiches with bbq sauce and pickles on the side
non-mayo based coleslaw
fruit salad
chips/dip
cake
tea/water/juice for kids
Re: Please menu critique!
I feel like it's missing a little something- baked beans or mac and cheese maybe? Or even just a veggie tray.
Baked beans are cheap. For something a little different get 3-4 cans of your favorite kind, add some partially cooked bacon, a can of whole berry cranberries and bake for at least an hour.
def. can not do hotdogs-these are 2 year olds! that's a huge choking hazard. Might possible do the chicken, doing the baked beans is not a problem. I'm trying to think of things that will still taste good even if they are luke warm. BBQ pork to me is one of them.
Any suggestions for things for kids that taste good luke warm?
Kids will eat almost anything. I'd concentrate on things that taste good luke warm to adults. I really like the idea of the pasta salad, baked beans, or even a mayo based dish. You can put it in a larger bowl of ice and then periodically change out the larger bowl of ice.
