our bunny proof fence

we got the fence in last night (the pugs would NOT stay out of the garden, trying to chew on bits of compost I believe!)  So now we can keep the pugs and the bunnies out!  We used metal stakes, plastic zip ties, and 2 ft by 10 ft chicken wire.  All fairly inexpensive at Home Depot.

Re: our bunny proof fence

  • Thanks for posting this! I am thinking of doing the same thing today with my square foot garden. Did you bury the bottom of the chicken wire or just curve it at the bottom? I can't tell from the pic. Also, are you going to just reach over it to work in the garden? I'm worried that it will be a pain to do that. I was thinking of creating something that can be removed for when I'm working out there.

    Thanks for the help!

  • We did not bury it, last year we never had a problem with the bunnies digging.  I can easily reach over the fence to tend the garden, last year we used fencing that was 3 feet high and it was a pain, I had trouble stepping over it. However this year we switched to the SFG which is much easier to reach in to.
