Tell me about these baskets!

They are really interesting but I'm reading so much that I'm totally lost.  Could be my blonde, mommy-brain acting up. ;)

Re: Tell me about these baskets!

  • What they are is a food co-op. They find the best/cheapest/inseason produce .

They pass along the savings to us...in the form of a basket (well really you have to bring your own)

So on Saturday's they have a pickup and there are half fruits and half veggies in them they are all supplied by smaller farms so we are supporting the good farms!

Check out my blog and last week I did a post on Bountiful baskets or check out Jaye's blog, she did as well!

  • So you just pay the $15, and then go pick up your stuff? How much do you actually get? I tried looking at their site and reading the FAQ and I am also confused

  • yup, your first basket is $19.50 then after that it is 15 (or it might be 16, you'll have to ask jaye)

click on my blog and click on bountiful baskets, that will give you an idea of how much you get for that!

  • Holy moly! So do you get to pick what you get? Or is it different each week? Some of that stuff I might have a hard time using, lol

no you don't get to pick ,but there is always lettuce and I think bananas?

But most of it isn't that off the wall but it also makes you venture out!

  • shannon, i actually like getting stuff that "out of the norm" for me. it challenges me to change things up and try something new.
  • After the first basket it's $16.50 (there is a $1.50 handling fee or whatever)

I love getting "weird" things...it expands me and DHs horizons.  I'm finding things that I like that I would never have tried.  Plus it's fun.  Last night I made homemade roasted tomato sauce and the salsa verde I did on Monday night with the stuff from the mexipack.

  • Yeah, I am totally excited about this now! Jess and I are going to split one. It's too late I guess for this week's but we'll sign up for next
