Considering getting a tattoo...
For my 30 birthday, as my gift to myself I am considering getting a tattoo. I already know what I would get, just trying to decide if I should.
- Do you have one?
- Where is it located? (if that is not too personal)
- What is the tattoo of? meaning?
- On a scale from 1-10, 10 being the worse... what was the pain factor?
- Any regrets?
Thanks for your help ladies!
Re: Considering getting a tattoo...
I got mine when I was 19, so I've had it forever, though I have considered getting another one. But then when I do think about getting another one, I feel like I'm too old to do it now (I'm 32). But its not out of the question.
I have a dolphin on my hip. You can only see it if I show you. Personally I don't like tattoos on women where you can see them. I only like hidden ones.
Wasn't too painful, more uncomfortable. Like someone scratching you continuously.
No regrets. It's mine, I love it.
Yes, me too. I have been wanting one for a while, but am afraid of needles. I like the idea of the 2 hearts on the back, but not so much the azz. I was also considering a small heart, but since decided I want something that has more meaning to me... an ixthus. It is a symbol that I will not regret getting down the road and that has symbolic meaning to me. I am thinking I would get it on the hip bone area, so that no-one could see it unless I wear a bathing suit or I am in my birthday suit. ;c )
1. I have 2
2. One is on my right shoulder blade (Pooh) the other is in my lower back around a scar (angel wings)
3. Pooh is just Pooh because I like Pooh. The angel wings are an unfished product. They are a symbol of my sister (purple and black) and will eventually some how have a koala bear added to them (since I thought of it after the fact..lol). It is around a scar which was my first major surgery and pretty much I would tell myself I could do it because of everything my sister went through she never complained. Kinda like a "I have the strength" thing.
4, I am a huge wimp, pooh was about a 5. The wings, well don't count I don't have feeling there because of the surgery.
5. Only that I didn't get the entire picture of the wings until after they were already in place.
I will be getting another one, probably on my left hip once I am done with kids and lost all the weight. 5 puzzle pieces, 1 to represent my parents and sister, 1 for my husband, one for me, and one for each of my kids. Each being a different color and symbolizing different parts of my life and self.
That sounds cool.
I heard the same. It would be straight across from the hip bone, not right on it, so I think I can handle the pain.
I understand the "2 hearts", but is there any special story or meaning?
Mine would represent sort of a "new beginning" or "new chapter" of my life.
Are you and DH still getting them?
A girl at work has a heart on her foot and the 1st letters of her 2 children's names enter twined in it. Yours sounds really cool too!
I agree with pp. I love that idea!
Not really, I was just looking for something small. Of course, the 2 hearts could represent DH & I. But I also want something that (God forbid) if DH & I aren't together forever, isn't going to look stupid. We are still talking about it, but the time just hasn't been right. Couldn't do it for V-day, then were all stressed about the house, then we moved, then we fought about my kids, then we've been fighting about the truck, plus in the meantime my exH was working every other weekend, so the kids were with us those weeks. It's just been something all the time. If it ever works out to get them, then we will.
I have one....I went through a phase when I was 18 and got my navel and tongue pierced, then a tattoo within about 6 months. The only one I have left is my tattoo. It is a blue scorpio glyph (http://www.suite101.com/view_image.cfm/423561) which I really liked because of the meaning behind it; traditional scorpios are passionate, water loving, stubborn, etc etc and I thought it was interesting. It is on my right hip, above my tush. I wish I would have gotten it a bit lower because it does show through my white scrub tops when my pants drop a bit low, but I dont' hate it or anything. I don't remember it hurting too much.
I have thought about getting a second tattoo; my grandma used to sing Edelweis from The Sound of Music when we were growing up, and after she died I was going to get an edelweis flower on my ankle. DH is against it, so I haven't decided for sure.
My sister has 2, one on her foot and one below her ankle bone on the inside. Both are easily covered, but she did say they hurt like crazy.....
Trust me, I said I would NEVER in a million years get one. I am more of a conservative, although I did get my navel pierced (SO painful.) I have sensitive skin and it kept getting infected, as well as MH hated it... so I had to let it close up. Anyway, after my good friend got matching ixthus tattoos with her DH, I always thought about getting one too.
Do you ever watch Miami Ink or L.A. Ink? Well I do, cause I am a reality show fanatic. I think it is so interesting to hear the clients story's or meaning behind the tattoo that they choose. So much so that when I see someone with one I often wonder what it means to them. I use to stereotype people I saw with them, but now I see tattoos differently. They are just another form of ART and self expression, only this one is permanent.I love the Sound of Music, that is one of my all time fave musicals. I love the edelweis flower idea too... so creative. Maybe your husband will come around, if you tell him how much it means to you. ::humming Edelweis::
I can appreciate that. I said I would never do a lot of things, but I guess you never really know until it happens.
Thanks. Now finding someone to draw it out that won't charge me an arm and a leg just to draw it. I have no skills there..lol
You live in CHI-TOWN? I heart Rush Street, and the Magnificent Mile, also the best Chicago Style Pizza eva at Giordano's.
Now I am craving CSP, if I was not too exhausted I would go out and get a Pizzeria UNO CSP from Aldi's. Those are my fave!!!
