I'm getting ready to take these, but am curious as to what kind of information is on there and if it's something I need to study for?
I have certification in Florida and we have state tests that are pretty basic, but I would love to know anyone's personal thoughts. Thank you!

Re: PRAXIS exams?
... every single day of forever.
Do you know which ones you have to take?
The PRAXIS one is reading, writing and math. I found it to be pretty basic.
I am certified French, which is a K-12 exam, so I had to take the basic subjects knowledge test (or something like that), which was reading, math, science and social studies...that one was a little trickier, but I still passed it by a lot.
The French one I found really easy, but I know a lot of people have failed the language ones. What subject area are you getting certified in? I can check around with some coworkers to see how hard that particular one was.
Thanks everyone! I am signed up for the Praxis 1 exams within the next month, but I guess the subject area exams are paper and pencil? I'm still trying to figure out the whole thing.
I guess I have to take both exams (1&2) and my subject area is Guidance and Counseling.
The PRAXIS 1 is general knowledge. It is Math, Reading, and Writing. It is paper/pencil unless you sign up for a computer place to take it. You won't be allowed to have a cell phone in the room, just warning you. Also, if you take it at a computer center, you can't wear a hooded sweatshirt.
The PRAXIS 2 is whatever your content knowledge is, so if it is Guidance and Counseling, it would be that. Ask your adviser to be sure.
When are you taking the PRAXIS 1? Good luck! Let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
I am taking the Praxis I on June 4th at a computer center in Florida. I have no idea who to talk to about my Praxis 2 exam because no one here really knows what I'm talking about. I'm hoping that the Penn. DOE will be helpful in that regard...but I'm not holding my breath. I guess I'll just try to figure it out once I get in PA.
Hi!
If you're already certified in Florida, I would think you'll have no trouble passing either of your exams.
I took the Praxis 1 several years ago and passed without issue. Do you know where your testing site is? I think most Praxis 1 exams are given electronically on the computer at a testing facility.
I took the Guidance and Counseling Praxis exam 2 or 3 years ago. It's very easy. I graduated from Shippensburg University and was told that in the history of the program, not one student has ever failed the exam. I don't remember all the sections, except the listening section, which was a little tricky. This exam was a pen and paper test. I took it at Shippensburg University.
Good luck!
Thanks Emmy!
I am taking the Praxis 1 at a computer testing site in Florida before I move up to PA. I think that I will probably have to wait until after the move to take the Praxis 2 Guidance and Counseling exam since, from what I understand, they are all paper and pencil and are only given on certain days.
You're welcome!
