We have a pear tree in our side yard and, among other critters, it attracts bees like crazy! Any suggestion on what we can do before our pears start coming in (and brings the bees around)?
Re: Help with a bee problem
Nothing. Bees are threatened in so many ways these days, and the pear needs them for pollination.
If you don't bother them, they won't bother you. Then the pear will end its flowering and everything will be fine.

If bees keep away from flowers, there are no such thing as fruits, or vegetables, or most any types of plants... or basically all living things on the planet that eat plants, or eat animals that eat plants....
It's much easier to keep humans away from bees.
Every week in spring, you should examine the awning on your shed, and any areas you don't want them to establish homes. Look out for places you see them entering (rotted trim, chimney, window frames, etc.) and seal those areas up. Remove hives as soon as they appear, before they get too big to remove with one finger.

I'm allergic & they are not edible anyways.
