I know that a few of us currently have passports and need to change them over as well. I figured I'd provide the link for anyone who wants it...
You are able to just RENEW your passport if:
1. You can submit your most recent US passport book and/or US passport card with the application
2. You were at least 16 years old when your most recent US passport and/or US passport card was issued
3. You were issued your most recent US passport book/US passport card less than 15 years ago
4. You have had your name changed by marriage or court order and can submit proper documentation to reflect your name change (note: needs to be an original marriage certificate, no copies!)
What to submit with your application:
1. Your most recent US passport book and/or US passport card
2. A marriage certifice or court order if your name has changed
3. Fees (note: $75 for just a US passport book)
4. Two recent, color photographs

Hope this can help some of you!

If your passport is less than a year old (ie. it was issued after today's date, 2009) then you do not need to pay for a new passport... that is also a different form you fill out I believe. But anything older than a year you need to pay.
It sucks, but at least you don't have to pay the regular fee you get to pay the renewal.
I agree with this, when I did my license they only charged me $22 for a name change instead of the usual cost. Unfortunately for me I have to get my passport changed. I travel back and forth to the US a lot and it is a PITA to have to deal things being in different names. Plus I am applying for Canadian permanent residency so I want to make sure all of my stuff is in one name. Blah!

Agreed! Mine expires next year so I'm waiting to change my name until the end of the year!
Very helpful info; thanks!
