Question about Maui

Hi ladies! I haven't been around for awhile, but I'm hoping you guys can help me with something.

We're going to Maui next Jan. for a wedding and we'll be staying in Kihei. We're trying to do this on a pretty tight budget and most of the good deals for condos are near the Waipuilani park area. But, I've been hearing that the beaches up there are nasty and not somewhere you'd want to swim. I've been on trip advisor and haven't found anything recent although some people were adamant that the beaches up there are fine. Does anybody know for sure what the beaches there are like?

Thanks ladies!

Re: Question about Maui

  • We stay in south Kihei every time we go to Maui and I've never been to the Waipuilani park area, but we go to Kamaole Beach Park III and Makena and both areas are *really* nice. There are lots of turtles if you go early in the morning to Makena too.

  • Yay for November 5th wedding dates!!

BTW, I love the Kihei area!  As for the beaches, I thought they were fine. Shoot, its Hawaii.  Can't go wrong.  And if its not something you like, drive a bit!  Wish I was planning with you!!
