a condo that is near the beach in Pacific beach, how $$$?

Hi- my sister is moving to SD this summer, she said she wants a 1 bedroom condo that she can walk to the beach, preferably Pacific beach area where all the bars are. How much the monthly rent will be?  I want to give her some basic idea because I am quiet sure there will be some sticker shock...

Re: a condo that is near the beach in Pacific beach, how $$$?

  • i suggest having her check craigslist for ideas.  hopefully she'll have better luck than we did- a lot of places are "no pets" or "cats only".
  • She needs to look for a place that has parking and a GARAGE if she has a car.  One of my friends lived there when she first got to the US and she had a hell of a time finding parking for her car and it was always getting barfed on and peed on by drunk people.  Its not the best part of town and its full of college age kids who like to party.

Does your sister have a job out here or is she moving out for school?  If she is coming out here for work, do you know what part of the county she will be working in?  There are quite a few nicer places with beach access that she can live in.  They will be a bit more pricey than PB but they wont have the same issues that PB has.

  • My friend rented a room in a 3-bedroom condo in PB that was about 6 blocks from the beach and she paid $900 a month.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I currently live in PB with my DH and DD. Back when I was single I rented an apartment near the beach for 1200.00 a month, no parking, no laundry. Try looking through the classified ads on SDbackpage.com.

  • Years ago i rented a three bedroom condo with roommate (really it was two bedrooms with an office, the third "bedroom" was tiny) in P.B. for $2200.00.  This was probably 7 years ago.

  • I lived three blocks from the beach in PB and shared a condo with two other roommates (parking, washer/dryer, dishwasher and own bathroom).  I had the master and paid $675. This was about five years ago.  Gosh I can't believe it's been THAT long.  For a one bedroom she should plan to pay more than 1k/mo for a shoe box!!  I'd suggest she live a few blocks north or south of Garnet to avoid the puking on the car etc.  My husband had a bottle thrown at his car and put a huge dent in the side when we were first dating.  It's debauchery:)  PB is a fun place to live and a good place to make friends and meet people.  Depends on how young she is if I would suggest she live there or not.....
