Visiting Santa Fe

Hi Ladies..

I am a Houston nestie and we are looking to fly into Albuquerque and drive to Santa Fe for a long weekend.  What is a good hotel with a good location?  Is there one main area that most places to see are at?  Any advice/help would be great!

What type of activities are you interested in doing?

Most of the tourist activities are centered around the Santa Fe Plaza and Railyard/Guadalupe Street area. So any of the hotels near the Plaza are good - La Fonda, EL Dorado, Inn at the Loretto, Inn of the Anasazi, Governor's Inn, etc.  And a bit closer to the Railyard, Santa Fe Inn and Hotel Santa Fe.

In the Plaza area you have the O'Keefe Museum, Palace of the Governors and American Indian Institute of Art. Nearby yo have Canyon Road with all the galleries. The Railyard has more galleries.  All these areas have lots of botiques, spas and resteraunts.

Musuem Hill is a quick 5-10 minute drive from the Plaza - they have the Indian Art, Fine Arts and Folklore Museums there.

For outdoor activities, Bandelier National Monument is nice day trip. Hyde Park (up towards the ski basin) has some nice trails.  And in summer, the Ski Basin is open for hikes - you can take the chair lift up and mountain bike down or hike around.

Sorry to hijack :) but I'm making a trip to SF next week too.  We found a decent deal at a Homewood Suites (free breakfast is a good deal for our group!).

Any particular suggestions for activities for kids?  We'll have a couple 6 year olds with us that won't care for galleries I'm sure.
