Agriculture is dangerous to farmworkers
Re: Agriculture is dangerous to farmworkers
Thanks for posting this.
My great-uncle was a long time greenhouse worker with many immune related issues arising later in life. The family is sure that this ultimately contributed to his death.
We were convinced these issues were due to his long term exposure to the chemicals and pesticides used in the greenhouses. Especially given that no masks/respirators were worn by anyone in the 50s,60s and 70s when many of the most toxic ones (that are now banned) were used.
I'm not going to read it, since i don't want to think about it too much (so this might be redundant), but it's also a major concern for farmworkers' families, esp. young children, for whom the effects are not as widely known, but who are highly susceptible (size, developing, etc.) and exposed (crawling on the floor, poor hand hygiene, etc.).
Sooo many reasons to choose organic!
