Hello!  It's been awhile since I've been around, but remembered that you all gave great advice.

We just recently, well 2 days ago, bought a house.  We need to get a termite inspection and while we're at it, we figured we would get a whole house inspection as well.  So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?  If it makes any difference, we'll be moving to the St. Peters area.

Also, since it seems like our builder took care of the inspection with our first house, I'm not quite sure how it works.  Can we use the same person for the home inspection as we do the termite inspection?

I'm speaking to 5 years ago...but if i remember correctly we had someone different than our home inspector come out for bugs/termites/rodents.  The Realtor recommended them, but I don't remember who it was...sorry

You will need 2 inspectors. One for the house in general and one for the bugs. We closed on our house in LSL the end of February. I can find the name of our house inspector if you would like. We are still looking to get a second opinion on the termite inspection because the $600+ quoted to get the house treated seemed a bit high.

lilmufish - If I remember correctly where you are (general area ), yes we won't be far at all.  Maybe 5 or 10 min.

drh - If it's not too much trouble, I would love to see you're recommendation or who you wouldn't recommend.  If you wouldn't mind, could you also tell how much the inspection was?

We bought back in 2006 and used Apple Inspections, recommended by our realtor at RealtyNet. Really thought they did an outstanding job. They give you a binder with color pictures and descriptions of every little detail that needs to be corrected or is a major problem or is something you may be able to live with, etc. Very very very thorough. Had a seperate bug guy, can't remember what it was.

Our home inspection was done by:

and the termite inspection was done by the same company. Together, both cost us $300 because of our realtor and also because we paid cash. I think it's $350 normally.
