I have about 40 ppl coming all adults...here is what I'm thinking
Burgers, hot dogs, bbq pork sandwichs, pasta salad, baked beans, meatballs, fruit salad, chips and dips. I was thinking about maybe a veggie tray from sam's could i need to get 2 for that many people?
anything else I should include?
I have a keg of Bud Light and going to make a Texas Sheet Cake if I can get the recipe from his mom. and then I will have some Sodas and bottled water. otherwise they are intructed to BYOB.
I am thinking about making a spiked punch of some sort any suggestions there also.
All suggestions of any kind, decorating, different meal anything welcome.
Thanks for all your help!
Re: surprise 50th bday party
The meatballs seem kind of like an odd addition. I would nix them and have cold chicken salad for people who don't eat beef or pork. Maybe a couple more cold sides like potato salad and coleslaw. I would probably do about 3-5 different kinds of dips that would also go with veggie trays, and do the veggie trays myself since I always hate the dip on the purchased ones. I would buy a couple of fruit trays though..I think you would need 2-3 trays if you bought any tray.
Do some cookies, lemon bars and brownies along with the cake...your menu is kind of light on sweets!
You could also do inexpensive bottled wine. If you do the spiked punch, I think vodka, frozen lemonade and sprite is good and easy!
thanks for the ideas...the punch sounds great. I Think I will give that a try.
I was thinking hormel chili/velveeta dip, salsa and cream cheese dip. Do you have any other suggestions?
I agree with the above posters. You should remove the meatballs from the menu and add in 2 more sides - corn on the cob or coleslaw or a tomato/cucmber salad are good choices or even a tossed salad.
More desserts are good too. many people will much on cookies/brownies and still eat cake.
