Need advice

We moved into our house last summer and next summer we plan to build a porch.....so the advice I need is that my husband wants to put some landscaping out front bc our house looks so bare. What should we put? I don't want to spend too much money that way we can continue to save for the porch. So please help. Thanks.

Re: Need advice

  • You may want to look into hiring a landscape designer to do an assessment of your yard and give you some advice. Some charge by the hour, so for not a lot of $ you can get some ideas. Or you can try your local nursery and have them tell you what will work for your area.

  • If you are going to put a porch on next summer don't waste the money on landscaping this year. Put the porch on then landscape. To keep if from being so bare plant a variety of annuals in various heights. You'll get a nice splash of color this summer and they will freeze off and you won't have to worry about then when you go to add on the porch. You could also get a pot or two that you might later want to use on the porch to give it some additional height this year.
