ahhh...frustrated!

Over the past like 2-3 wks, I've seen way too many RN positions come & go on hospital websites.  I had to update & re-do some stuff before I was able to apply, plus I didn't wanna apply too early since we're not coming out til June/July.  Now I sign in & there are positions gone from a few days prior.  Ugh!  Hope I can find something good here soon.  Sorry, just needed to vent.  I'm getting nervous & a lil worked-up already & I've only submitted 3 apps.

Thanks, I hope I'm not running into the new grads taking positions away, that I was worried about.  But a bunch of them stated, "not for a new grad".  Ah well, something will come up, I hope!

I agree, the right position is wiating for you. you know what i mean. the one that was meant to be for you i hope you hear something soon

i am sure it is frustrating.  so example when i first started looking for a job here in AZ i wanted to get into home mortgage... well there weren't any jobs in that divison with the bank i am working for but there was however a position in business lending and so i took that one thinking "it is a way to get my foot in the door" and two weeks after i starting in the business lending area all the new people that were just hired on in home mortgage were laid off! so that told me that the business lending job was meant to be for me to save me from working fo a month then losing my job.

Sorry it can be so nerve wracking.  I wouldn't worry too much, depending on the unit you're looking into. Some units are definitely harder to get into as their staff tend to stick around, whereas others there can be pretty high overturn for staff.  The summer months do tend to have lower census for the hospitals and you'll find some pulling off their open positions so that their staff can get their hours in rather than be sent home early.  Most units will be re-posting by August to bulk up again for the upcoming winter season so that people will have had their orientation hours on the floor completed by a certain time.  Keep your hopes up, there are plenty of jobs here especially for someone with experience. I've seen more of the new grad nurses having a lot more difficulty getting jobs.  What kind of nursing do you do?

Jenn- Crazy story, but I'm a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason.  Hopefully it'll be something like that for me too.

timark- Thanks, don't know why I'm getting worried already, as there are still quite a few jobs posted, but not as many now that I can fall into w/my experience.  I kinda forgot about the summer slow-down.  We have that around here too.  I sure hope we can get out before Aug.    I'm in ortho./joint replacement, post-surgical nursing right now, but I have experience in neurolog. (worked on a stroke unit) & neurovasc., med-surg, geriatrics, & telemetry.

My knee surgery was at private hospital, the Arizona Orthopedic hospital in Chandler, AZ.  It was an AWESOME experience.  It's smaller and owned by surgeons- but it was amazing!  If you're in ortho, maybe that's an option for you too!

I'm sorry!!  I know Mayo probably isn't going to be doing any hiring through September...it is our slow time during the summer, plus we're switching over to a new EMR system that rolls out Labor Day, so they're not planning to hire until that whole nightmare is over with.  FWIW, I'll mention to my supervisor that you're looking!!

dmw531- I was so bummed last night.  There was a position listed on Mayo that I was gonna apply for, but didn't get to it soon enough.  It's off the website now.  Thanks so much...maybe we will have to wait to get through the summer, but I hope not.

I actually haven't done that too much lately, cuz I've found in the past that a lot of those positions tend to be for agencies or home health.  I've just been checking out diff. hospitals' websites & going from there, but maybe I should check out that jobing & career builder.

I'm not sure what part of the valley you are planning on living, BUT...I worked for a senior living community in Fountain Hills for three years, and they are ALWAYS in need of RN's and other medical staff b/c not many want to make the drive out to FH.
