Well we hired a lawn company to come out and do all the fertilizer this year. They are doing 7 treatments for 185.00 and they even come out and spray as many times as needed for weeds to. Tired of trying to store the chemicals in the garage. So far it has worked out good. Our front lawn is starting to look good. The back needs work but in time it will get there.
Here's our dilemma, we have a big old shed in the back corner, do you think we should A.Replace it with a shed that fits there much better and isn't as big or B. But a pond back there and landscape around it. We do have garage as well. Not sure if most people now a days want a shed or prefer one?
Our 2nd problem is our neighbors for some reason they are not cutting their lawn and I don't know if it's they don't have a lawn mower or flat out do not care? It just leaves a bad imagine when you look at how well taken care our lawn is and then look over and see their disgusting looking backyard full of weeds. So we were thinking about putting up a nice tall fence around our entire existing fence... is it a lot easier to avoid wooden fences in general? Were looking for something that is going to last for more then 5 years. We are doing it for the landscape look and also to block our their yard as well as the yard behind ours that has logs that are rotting back there. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated on the fence and also the Pond Idea.
Re: Suggestions on landscaping ideas
Whether or not you have a pond is a personal preference, but honestly if you think establishing the lawn was too much hassle, I promise you won't be taking care of a pond. There would be filters and aerators to maintain. The pond may be MORE work than the lawn.
I wouldn't have a shed taking up space in my yard, and I HATE the way they look. That's what garages and basements are for, IMO; but that's just me. Once again, personal choice.
And a wood fence will last longer than 5 years, so I'm not sure what you mean by that question. What material would you use if you didn't use wood? Vinyl can warp and look cheap too, chain link looks industrial and offers no privacy. Bricks walls, wrought aluminum and iron look fantastic, but the price is through the roof. I'd choose wood (but- you guessed it- personal choice.).
Our shed is full, even though we have a 2.5 car garage. So personally, I'd get a shed, but that's because we need the storage space. So that is a personal choice for you based on your needs.
As for your neighbors... o well? The house down the block, across the street is literally covered with dandelions and they are the reason our block has them. Nothing we can do about it though.
As for a fence, vinyl fences are very easy to maintain and last a long time. However, they are much more expensive. Wood fences last more than 5 years but you have to stain every 2-3 years.
