rabbits!

How the heck do I keep rabbits from eating my new lily bulbs?   My dog isn't much help, she just stares at them from the deck.  sprays?

Re: rabbits!

  • Tabasco sauce on the leaves. Possibly ivory soap bars hung up? It keeps the deer away...

  • Go to the pet store and buy some puppy no-chew spray like bitter apple and spray in on your plants.  It doesn't wash off in the rain like Tabasco sauce.

Be sure to either not spray on windy days OR be upwind.  It's some nasty stuff and if you get it on your face, you'll be tasting it for DAYS.  It won't wash off.

  • Thank you very much for the suggestions!  I will try the tabasco until I get to the store again!
  • I used dried blood and blood meal in my flower beds this spring and it kept the rabbits at bay. My dog is also no help, well she barks but the rabbits just ignore her.

I've tried everything. Rabbits in our yard have eaten literally hundreds upon hundreds of dollars of plants, grass, etc.

Someone on another board mentioned putting baby powder down so i've been trying that on our lawn. I haven't noticed it getting any worse, so i'm going to keep trying it...

  • I use Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit Repellant. Nurseries and Home Depot carry it. Smells gross but one soaking of the plant and rabbits will leave it alone.
