So I'm too intimidated to ask the Fashion/Beauty board, and i know we've discussed this before... but what facial skin care system do you all use?
I've been using neutragena sensitive skin cleanser and oil free moisturizer, but I'm still getting breakouts. I'm looking for a new economical system to use. Suggestions?
Re: Skin Care System
I've always been a fan of the Aveeno products, but have stopped using the ones for breakouts since they have meds in them that aren't baby-friendly.
I have also found that my skin responds best to Sea Breeze toner. Right now I'm using Korres white tea face wash and Korres yoghurt face lotion (both pricey...but I bought them before I switched to budget-friendly-only beauty products) and using the Sea Breeze in between. I also use (and LOVE) St. Ives apricot scrub every other day.
The apricot scrub and Sea Breeze are definitely the components of my routine that help the most and both are super affordable. (Extra bonus, my hairdresser uncle used Sea Breeze on his scalp when he had dandruff...totally works!)

I just switched from the acne foaming cleanser by clinque to the foaming one by aveeno. except I think the foaming one by aveeno is more of a make up remover so I also use a bar of their acne fighting soap and when my skin get dried out I use st ives facial scrub oh and for lotion I like the matte one by mark. (avon product)
HTH:)
Just a thought but have you considered seeing a dermatologist for a recommendation? I have had bad skin since I was in middle school and still do today - finally went in as an adult ready for them to say I needed to have Acutane which I want to avoid because of the side effects and discovered that I don't really have acne per se but have a form of Rosacea. All the scrubs, cleansers, toners, etc that I had been using were actually making my flareups worse by irritating my skin.
I use Phisoderm for my facial wash - think the stuff that they use for babies baths - and Oil of Olay moisturizer for sensitive skin along with my prescribed medication. Sounds crazy but my sister has had good luck using baby shampoo on her face as a wash as well - which sorta makes sense when you think that a lot of babies don't have a ton of hair to scrub clean so it is super gentle.
I used this for about six months before the wedding. It did pretty good! Still had a few breakouts, though.
Yeah, I probably should go. But the acne isn't what I would consider to be out of control. It's just that when I do get a pimple (2x a month, or so), they're large, deep, painful and take forever to go away. My skin is already scarring from past ones, and I just don't want my face scarring up any more, ya know?
I really really really enjoyed the Lancome skin system when I was on it in college, but my skin has changed since then. I'm not sure it will be the same.
I'll give some thought to go to my dermatologist. Thanks!
