Ok I got this from the Taste of Home magazine. I made Bacon-wrapped Stuffed Jalapenos for my house warming party and they were gone before I could turn around. I can't tell you if they were good or not because I didnt even get to eat one.
But they looked great!!!!
24 Medium Jalopeno Peppers
1 pound uncooked chorizo or Bulk spicy pork sausage
2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
12 bacon strips, cut in half
Make a lengthwise cut in each jalapeno, about 1/8 in deep; remove seeds. Combine the sausage and cheese stuff into jalapenos. Wrap each with a piece of bacon; secure with toothpicks.
Prepare grill for indirect heat, using a drip pan. Place Jalapenos over pan: grill, covered, over indirect medium heat for 17-20 mins on each side or until a meat thermometer inserted into filling reads 160 degrees. Grill, covered, over direct heat for 1-2 mins longer or until bacon is crisp.
I however decided to bake them in the oven and just put them on a cookie sheet instead of grilling them. It took about an hour for them to cook on 300. We then turned the broiler on for a little bit to make the bacon crispy. Sorry I dont know exactly how long I put them in the oven for. Next time I will try the grill.
MAKE SURE TO WEAR GLOVES!!! You dont want to touch the jalapenos and then touch your eyes.
Just thought I would pass this along.
Re: Good Appetizer
Ooh! Sounds delish!
It reminded me of something we had on our honeymoon that I wanted to try making -- dates stuffed chorizo and wrapped in bacon. SO good. Thanks for sharing -- now I'll have to try both!!
