A solution for small condos/houses: Combo Sink Toilet

I usually just lurk this board, but I?m so by this enamored concept, I just needed to show everyone.

We live in a small condo, but it only has one bathroom and we really want another toilet but there isn?t much room to expand (there?s a closet that we could convert but it?s narrow). I?m also big proponent for doing anything green & sustainable (I know, those words are so clich?d).

But I like concept of the design(not as sleek/modern as I wish). I looked in to the Sink positive (http://sinkpositive.com/) & it looks cheap (I think it?s plastic)

 

Anyhow some features:

these were all over the parts of japan that i visited and they are awesome! they make so much sense for both water conservation, space and also for reminding people to wash their hands!!

I was really into this idea a few years ago, but DH was hung up on washing hands in cold water (or is there is hot water feature that I missed).

Yeah I saw that they are frequent in Japan. And yes, I saw the Roco design but I am not will to spend $4000+ (not available in the US), but the Carmona is $500-600 (&w/ the 50% special it's $250-300)

It looks like the design is set up for cold water only but I think you could modify it to have a warm water.

It looks like a great idea in theory, but I think execution would get in the way for my family.  I really don't want to wash my hands above a toilet.  My kids get pretty messy w the bathroom in general, and I could see a lotta different scenarios happening here...

but the do provide a great service for tiny spaces.

I think this is a really great idea.  Not only for the water savings, but I could turn our second sink into a makeup vanity area

i would love if the kids could climb on the toilet seat to wash their hands instead of the counter or me picking them up! haha. it would save my back.

I'm having a hard time envisioning brushing my teeth over the toilet. Otherwise I like it... when we build (just dreaming here) I'd like to have something like the Habana Outpost in NY that cycles water from the sink to the toilet tank. Achieves the same conservation, but has hot and cold and puts a little distance betweent the two.
