Oh Boy - magazine interview update

a while ago, I got randomly called up by a local bridal publication and they wanted to interview me for a story that they were doing about bridal parties visiting spas for pre-wedding pampering.  I was kinda peeved about the salon giving out my info to them without my consent.  Today, I got an email from the magazine editor (another mode of communication I didn't authorize them to share) asking me to send photos to accompany the article!  Apparently my totally confused, "how on earth did you get my number" interview was good enough to feature in the article.  I'm not sure if I'm excited or not about this.  Is that bad?  I don't think I had makeup on at that point because I was going to get ready for the rehearsal dinner afterwards.  Tongue Tied

Hmm - maybe they can make up for the fact that they shared my private contact info without my consent by doing a photo re-shoot and we (the bridal party and my mom) can put on cuter clothes and do our hair and makeup??  Stick out tongue

Re: Oh Boy - magazine interview update

  • This whole situation is really bizarre!  Did you tell them you would submit photos?
  • Based on the fact you didn't give out your info....kind of worries me.  If they wanted to release any photos of you OR info about you, they would need to have you sign a release.  And for any photos to be published you would have to sign a "model release form"....did you do any of that?
  • They're asking for our photos so by providing them, I think we imply consent to publish... maybe?  I haven't committed to providing them photos at this point because I wanted to check with my sisters and mom who are also in the shots.
  • Ah sorry....I read it wrong (idiot).  I thought they *took* photos of you at the salon and wanted to use those....AND wanted you to submit more.  My bad... Embarrassed
  • I think I'd feel a little strange about it too.  I definitely would made it clear to the spa that it wasn't acceptable.  If you don't feel 100% comfortable, let them know you never gave permission to the spa for them to call you and that you were so thrown off when they called you answered the questions but you really don't want to be included.
  • I told them that we got caught up in our relaxation during our mani/pedi treatments and didn't take any pictures.  :-P
