Dishwasher detergent

I currently use 7th Generation tablets and they work okay, but it's hit or miss. This morning I did a load and everything looked great, but the last load had little specks of white powder left on my glasses and mugs so I had to rerinse them. This happens often so I want to try something else.

Any recommendations for me? I prefer liquid because my dishwasher tends to clump powder in the little compartment although I don't have a problem with the tablets dissolving.

Re: Dishwasher detergent

  • We tried TJs powder based on the suggestion of a local nestie, but we weren't crazy about it.  It didn't work in our dishwasher.

The only other green on we've tried was BioKleen liquid, and it didn't work well for us, either.  Our dishes all seemed to come out scuzzy feeling and gross.

We're back to Electrasol until we forget how annoyed we were about having to constantly rewash dishes straight out of the dishwasher, and then we'll try something else.

  • I actually do like the TJ's powder...it works great with our dishers/dishwasher! (Sorry, Em!)

The TJ's powder is the only one that I've liked so far. Plus, it's relatively inexpensive so for me it was worth a try

  • I like TJs- but I use it with a little bit of Lemi-shine.  Together- they work great!  The Lemishine was rec'ed by someone else on this board.  It makes a HUGE diff!  You can find it at Target.

No worries!   I'm just bummed it didn't work for us because now I know it works for you and daisy.  And you live like 2 inches away from me, so our water should be about the same.

I've never heard of Lemishine.  I'll try it when we get low on our regular stuff with the TJs again.  And if it fails I have another person to pawn the TJs stuff off on.  Wink

  • I've been using the Ecover tablets for the last couple months, and they work great.
  • I've tried all kinds of different detergents, 7th Gen liquid and powder, Ecover, Method, Nature's Promise, and a bunch of others I can't remember.  We're currently using Mrs. Meyers liquid and a large splash of vinegar.  It works well as long as the food isn't really crusted on.  So I sometimes have to pre-scrub.

I know, right? But I guess it must come down to the dishwasher...ous is far from top of the line, but with this detergent, ou dishes/silverware are really clean and shiny! Strange, because at our last house, we had a really nice dishwasher, but had a really hard time finding a dishwashing detergent that worked (had I known that I liked the TJ's kind, I would have tried that!)

  • Thanks I'll give those a try!
