Miley Cyrus

Anyone check out her new video? Thoughts?

Re: Miley Cyrus

  • A number of thoughts...

    1) I disagreed with a lot of people who thought her Oscar gown was too 'adult' for her.  I will NOT disagree that this video is inappropriate for a 17 year old.

    2) It's Britney 2.0 .  The upgraded model has attitude.

    3)  It's like her dad said, "I want you to do a Lion King music video," and Miley said, "I want to be a slut," and this is their hybrid idea.

    4)  Is there supposed to be a PG-13 rating between G and R? That's a bit of a jump.

    5) It's a shame that she couldn't stick with the good girl image.  Look at Taylor Swift.  Class act, makes the big bucks.  I'd hate to see miley go the route of Lindsey Lohan.

    6) HOWEVER, if she keeps her head, she has quite a bit of potential.

  • Surprisingly I don't think it's awful considering I generally don't like her. I think that's is quite artistic actually and while it can be called "slutty" back when Britney was first showing her stomach that was "racy" and "pushing the envelope".

Things have changed and while Miley could have continued in her good girl image and probably been successful I think it's not really what she wants. While people can argue that she's only 17 and what she wants doesn't matter ultimatly she's the artist and being a minor doesn't seem matter when you're in show biz. She calls the shots and if she wants to be sexy then she's sexy. I think we all knew she would eventually take this route.

Hopefully though she'll be more Christina then Britney. Christina started our wholesome, became Xtina and then went classic. Now she seems to be Xtina once again but she's clearly got her head on her shoulders with being able raise a family, have a stable marriage and keeping her private life private. With good support Miley can push the envelope of her art and still stay grounded in life.

  • I think it portrays her a teetering on promiscuous, but it's not full out slut.  Britney and Cristina as Xtina put out far more scandalous videos ("Slave 4 U" and "Dirty", respectively).  However, with this being kind of a first, it will probably only go downhill from here.
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • After having a day to digest the video and mull it over, I'd like to amend my statement a little from yesterday.  I actually like the video.  I don't know what happens between the magical age of 17 and 18, and it may just all be in my head, but I really wish she had just waited a little longer (six months) and made this when she was 18.  I don't know why that would make it better, but it does, in my mind.
  • I really like her boots....  Big Smile  I don't have a problem with the video.  She's at that age where she is changing and wants to express herself more.  I actually like the video and glad she's not climbing that damn mountain anymore....  Stick out tongue
  • The video is pretty average compared to all the other artists out there but I feel like if she wants to have a more 'adult' image then she should stop marketing toward kids also.  She's got millions of very young fans buying her childrens products all the time and really looking up to her.  This isn't very child friendly and kids won't understand why their parents won't let them watch it.  They're her biggest fans, why can't they watch her new video?
