I'm turning 30 (eek! j/k) in a couple weeks & wanted to be on a beach in mexico, butttt doesn't look like that's happening. what is a fun place for me & DH to go celebrate for the weekend, that won't break the bank? within 2 hours drive from Chicago western suburbs? not Galena or Starved Rock, already been there.
we like to eat seafood, steaks, italian. walk around a town, see some sites, cute shops, listen to good music (DJ: 90's rap/pop/rock to current, or cover bands from oldies to current). maybe get a couples massage and have an in-room jacuzzi for two? something different/ romantic/ special/ memorable for me to ring in my 30's?
Re: weekend trip ideas for 30th bday?
We love Saugatuck, MI... really cute town and about 2.5 hours drive from Western Suburbs. If you stay at a B&B in town, you can walk everywhere. There's a nice beach there (Oval Beach) and wineries with wine tours nearby (Fenn Valley Winery). The town is totally cute, with lots of little shops, restaurants and art galleries. As for a DJ/music, there's a bar called Wally's in town that sometimes has bands on the weekends.
Check out www.saugatuck.com for good info. The best B&B is probably the Wickwood Inn, but there are lots of others too.
Happy Birthday!
