Anyone have a bat house?

This is our first summer in our house, and I was thinking of putting one up in the backyard somewhere to help with bug control. I think I might be too far from a water source, but I might build one anyway if I get bored one day this summer.

Anyone keep bats around?

Re: Anyone have a bat house?

  • We're putting up bat houses this summer.  We do have some bats around our property and they are soooo great at keeping the bugs down.  We live right by a lake and mosquitos are usually a problem in our area, but we haven't noticed any on our property.

  • We have one at our lake cabin. I love watching the bats zip around in the evening. Not so cute when one accidentally gets INSIDE the cabin, though! (and yes, that happened once!!!)
  • Do I have one: yes. Is it installed...not yet.

We have a lot of bats around - we love to watch them at dusk and they really do help with the bugs.  We don't have houses, they make their own Smile  but if you don't have them I would def try the houses to attract them - gl!
  • I'm definetely going to do one in our forever home, probably this pretty one.  We currently live in TH with no adjacent wooded areas, so I don't see bats very often.
