Visiting Next Week...help...
I'll be visiting the Santa Monica and Palm Springs area next week and would love some restaurant recommendations. Hoping to stay away from the touristy places and find something more "local". Nothing crazy fancy just great food, nice atmosphere. A good italian place would make me swoon.
So, if you live in the area, or know the area, where would you go if you were me?
Thanks for the help ladies. If you're ever in Chicago give a shout out....

Ok, first off, your daughter is gorgeous!!
Where are you staying in Santa Monica and how far do you want to go for a restaurant? (ie. hollywood, beverly hills etc.) And how much do you want to spend? Some of my favorite restaurants are in SM, but also some of the most expensive. here are a few:
If you want an Italian restaurant that will knock your socks off (and the money out of your wallet) go for Capo. It's right across the street from the Vice Roy hotel which has a really cool bar scene. (but the restaurant there is not great)
The Lobster is great if you want fine seafood dining right on the water.
Geoffrey's in Malibu is also fantastic.
JiRaffe is pretty fab as well. . . there are so many options!
I also love JiRaffe.
Josie is good, but a little more on the dressy side.
If you're in Santa Monica on Sunday, you should check out the Farmer's Market on Main Street - best breakfast around.
Huckleberry is a good place for sandwiches and salads.
And of course, a visit to Santa Monica without going to Father's Office would be totally incomplete. Father's Office has one of the best burgers in the country. It gets really packed.
