i feel like a hypocrite

DH uses conventional cleaning products. i do not. but his shower is so white and the various cleaning products i have been trying haven't produced the same results. so today i cleaned my shower with tilex. i know. i am hanging my head in shame. but my shower is so white now.

how will i convince my DH to use green products if i cannot get the results? i am hoping that now that it is white and i am using different products it will stay that way this way and i will be able to change his mind about my green cleaning products.

i am paying the price though. the smell is giving me a headache.

  • I still use bleach once and awhile especially in the shower. We have some mold that keeps reappearing and the only way to get rid of it is with bleach. But we only use it once a month or so. I think if you can reduce the use of bleach it's better than using it every day for cleaning.
  • Did you try white distilled vinegar? I made a paste with baking soda and it was really great for getting my white surfaces white again

  • Have you tried Borax?  I haven't had to get something back to 'bright white', but it's a great, natural cleaner (powder in the detergent aisle, has like 100 uses, including preventing ants from invading, which I will test in the coming weeks I'm sure)

  • i think i am going to try making a paste with baking soda and lemon juice and applying that to the grout once a month. hopefully it will stay white that way. to clean the tile i am now using a mixture of baking soda and dr. bronners. hopefully that will work.

i will try the borax too.

  • Don't feel too guilty. We all have our things. I had to cave and spray some Ortho Home Defense ant spray IN our house. I tried every natural ant repellent/killer but the nasty little things kept coming, we sprayed it first outside and gave it a couple weeks but eventually had to spray inside.
