Denham Nesties

I need a favor if possible. Remember the doggie we found in the river? Well, we want to bring him to the no-kill shelter in Denham, but you have to have a Denham address. We tried to find his owners and called all the vet clinics around the area to see if anyone reported him missing. Nada. You all know we would keep him (we already have a zoo), but we have no more room right now. I don't want to bring him anywhere in Baton Rouge because they will just euthanize him after 3 or 4 days. Would any of you nice ladies want to accompany either Jamie or I to the shelter so this little man can find a home? Angel

Oh you know I was trying to find a way to keep him, but the Doberman we took in pushed the limit on the space.

  • Have you contacted Yelp Baton Rouge? We adopted our dog from them (they are helping to make BR a no-kill) and house the dogs at Pet Plaza on Perkins until they are adopted. :)

Totally forgot about them. Thanks for reminding me!

  • the shelters here (Walker and Denham) say that you have to have a local address, but they won't take surrenders.  we found a stray yellow lab that we tried to bring in, but they wouldn't accept her because they considered it a surrender - even though we weren't the owners.  i don't understand it.
  • We got one of our pups from the Denham shelter so I have a soft spot for them. I can't help since we're in Central but I will tell you what the woman at the shelter told us when we were adopting Brendon. Most people basically drop animals at the gate overnight and leave them there. Sometimes they leave them tethered to the gate with a note. That sounds awful but I guess it gets around the whole address requirement and they won't turn away animals that show up. I wish they had a better policy!
