Nashville

Hi!  I am thinking about moving to the Nashville area if my DH decides he doesn't want to be with me anymore, ugh.  What are some nice areas there?

Re: Nashville

  • I'd probably want to live close to downtown/near vandy if I was single. I'm an old married fart with kids and still wished I lived downtown.
  • The Vanderbilt/West End area is probably where you would want to be - lots of restaurants and bars and fun retail. Some of my single grad student friends live out in Bellevue because rents are cheaper, but every time my husband and I have gone out to eat in Bellevue, we feel like we're in major suburbia. East Nashville is a very hip and up-and-coming neighborhood, but I don't think I would feel safe living there alone as a female unless I had a big scary dog. I've heard too many stories about people getting burglarized and mugged in front of their houses.

  • I lived downtown on 2nd Ave my first year in Nashville. Loved it and it was a great way to meet a lot of new people. We moved to West End/Vandy area in Hillsborough Village our second year. That was really fun too, but I liked downtown more:)
  • My best friend lives in Bellevue, because rent is quite a bit cheaper. It's pretty close to downtown too, as far as Nashville drives go. She is looking to move into a condo though when her lease is up in July, just because she's on-again-off-again single and wants to be closer to the action of downtown. The Vandy area is really nice too, seems safer but of course rent is higher.
