great quote

This is on the homepage of the Land Stewardship Project - kass11 posted the page about the new USDA regulations. I thought this was a great quote!

  • So true -- how much of what we have in our homes (or what we see in stores) is a re-invention meant to make it so anyone can do a task that previously seemed hard? Marketing these days is about how easy you can make something -- which is an easy concept to buy into

It is an amazing and true statement. I have recently realized this fact. After staying in a hotel with the bare minimum for a whole week, I came home and realized how much junk we actually have in our house. Stuff I have been hanging onto just in case I might need it. Im done. I use and wear the same stuff over and over until it breaks or falls apart and can not function anymore. There is no need for me to have all the other stuff. So my goal for the spring/summer is to clean out room by room and only keep what is necessary. It will make cleaning so much easier. A lot can be taken to Goodwill or Salvation Army, some can be sold in a yard sale, some can be taken to our beach house. Just about everything can be reused, resold or repurposed. Very little will be thrown away. Which makes me feel great on top of simplifying our families lives.
