Give me summer job ideas, plz
I'm broke as all get out for the summer, and summer school is not looking like an option, thanks to budget cuts.
Any ideas for a job I can get for like 2 months over summer to keep a roof over my head?
Re: Give me summer job ideas, plz
fvck no
There's not a huge demand for tutoring during the summer because school isn't in session.
I'd suggest working at a bookstore, but I'm pretty sure you would end up spending your entire check there
I was thinking the same thing. Are there any libraries hiring?
my BIL, also a teacher, works (worked?) at the del mar fair in years past. I would just be scurred I'd run into students.
xo,
helpful hattie
Not yet.
They said we should hear something in early May...which really means late May / early June.
Who knows.
I have a shitton of reatail experience, I'm just wondering if the $$ will be worth my time.
I guess any $$ is worth my time when I have no income, but does anyone have any idea how much bookstores pay?
ETA: I just looked online. They make like $7-9/hr.
OMG, my students will be all over the fair. That's a good idea, though. Are there any other seasonal-type things like that that I'm not thinking of?
that was my first job. but we only made 4.25/.hr, that was the minimum wage back in 1960. the fvckers tried to pull a fast one and give us 4.00/hr + a .25 "bonus" at the end of the season until someone told them that was illegal.

ohhh, what about verizon wireless?
I dont know if they are still in business but I use to work for science adventures during the summer. They would hire teachers to lead the group. It was a fun and easy job and they paid fairly well especially if you were a teacher.
I dont know if you'd want to do that though. But their website is www.scienceadventures.com
ETA: They are still in business and hiring, I checked out the website. They have like 10 locations in SoCal! I loved that job, it was fun.
You might find a daycare for older kids (think YMCA) but a "preschool" type setting won't hire because you more than likely don't have the early childhood units (go figure, elementary teachers can't teach preschool!).
What about Pretend City in Irvine? I don't know if they are hiring and it's a lot of kids, but it looks very cool and I'm thinking a teacher might be of use to them.
Other than that, I'd look at retail. I'm not sure if there's any true seasonal stuff but there might be. What about one of those Sylvan type places? They run year round don't they?
