Cleaning pet stains

I've been slowly switching stuff to home made cleaners as they run out, and now all I have left is Resolve.  I need something that can get pet stains out of the carpet, since whenever my kitties have a hairball, it always ends up on the carpet and makes a mess.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Re: Cleaning pet stains

  • If you only want homemade cleaners, baking soda and/or vinegar is a good start and should work well on hairball stains.  For more serious messes, though (urine and poop), though, I really like enzymatic cleaners--Simple Solution is my favorite.

  • In our old place (with carpet), I would pick up the solids, sprinkle on enough baking soda to absorb the liquids, and then come back with a spray bottle of vinegar and the shop vac after a little while.  It worked great, and we never needed to buy more Resolve again!
