Cute bridal shower ideas ?
My sister and I are planning our baby sisters bridal party. What would be cute ideas for a bridal shower?
ex. Tea party, all white (every one wears white except her, big hats, etc)
thanks:)
Re: Cute bridal shower ideas ?
A tea party would be fun. Other ideas: wine tasting, bling bling party, a chocolate decadence party.
How many people? What is she in to?
Here are some additional ideas for suggestions pp mentioned:
I've been to one that was a tea party (tea bags for favors, food was mini sandwiches, fruits, cookies). It was actually at a local tea house.
I just co-hosted a wine tasting one that was a lot of fun! We selected wines that had some significance to the bride/groom (most were from a certain location that was relevant like a place they had gone together, the state where they grew up, etc.) We created a question for each wine like, "The bride-to-be traveled to the far away land where this wine was made after college." Everyone had an answer sheet to answer each question. Then they also had to guess the type of wine. We gave out wine charm sets for favors and did assorted cheeses, fruits, and quiche for food.
I love the tea party idea! I think that would work best with a small group though.

I'm definitely a fan of theme parties, but just want to throw it out there that some guests might be put off by having to wear all white AND having to wear a hat. Just b/c they might have to do some shopping in order to attend.
If you're going to go with the hat theme, how about hat boxes with plants in them as centerpieces?
For games/activites, you can have guests vote on hat superlatives "biggest," "funniest," "most stylish."
HTH.
I love this shower: the perfect pair
Please don't make it a theme that requires your guests to dress in a certain way. That's really not that much fun for the majority of people.
They are already giving up their afternoon and bringing a gift to celebrate and attend the party. Don't dictate what they have to wear/bring extra too. Those kinds of expectations turn a nice, fun get-together into a real drag super quick.
The hat thing is only fun if you provide hats for them to wear when they arrive...THAT could be hysterical especially if you have lots of funny and or weird options. For example: baseball cap, portrait hat, dunce hat, pinwhell hat..kwim?)
I like the tea party idea, but I also appreciate a party based around the nursery decor. Or just something simple like polka dots or plaid.
The only fun game I've ever done at a bridal shower was a "name that spice" game. Each person was given a sheet of paper and pen. There were 10 herbs/spices in ziplock bags and we had to write down what spices they were based on smell/color/etc.
The winner got a nice spice set.
For my shower, my Maid/Matron of Honor planned an around the clock shower. In the invitations, each guest was requested to bring a gift particular to their time of day (bathtowels for morning, tupperware for lunch, and bedding for evening). The games had to do with the theme too! My MOH pinned kitchen utinsils to an apron and I had to model for 2 minutes. Then, everyone had to guess what was on the apron. The food was amazing too! Very light food such as: wraps, chocolate fountain with pretzles/strawberries/bananas, cake decorated like a clock... Hm.. what else. Oh! The traditional TP the Bride... that was fun and was a great ice breaker for the guests. It was a very fun shower and a great time for me to spend with friends and family.
Hope that helps!
My two favorite showers that I received were really interesting and I'd never seen them done before.
The first: The Quickest Way to His Heart is Through His Stomach
It was a shower where everyone wrote out their favorite recipe and brought it and the dish that you would need to cook it in (or something else cooking related). It was so much fun, and I now have a great book of recipes from family and friends, plus many different kinds of cooking utensils I never even thought I might need! They served brownies and ice cream with strawberries, because the hostess's recipe was for brownies.
The second: Something You Can't Live Without
Everyone brought one thing they couldn't live without, whether it was a gardening book, an ice cream maker, or anything really! It was fun to see what people cherished. They served picnic style lunches, little sandwiches and chip bags, all wrapped in red gingham cloth for napkins.
Hope that helps!
I really like the wine tasting idea, there are so many cute things you could do for that.
I recently helped host a bridal shower for my sister, and we did a Kentucky Derby themed party. Of course it wasn't mandatory, but we did let people know that we would be having a hat contest. It turned out that everyone really got into dressing up Derby style. We had a mixture of elegant, and funny hats, but pretty much everyone participated.

the shower I just went to did a fun game: "bring a panty the style you wear in the bride's size" & then the bride had to decide who brought what...it was too funny & the bride got lots of fun / sexy panties!!! It was a winning idea!! Of course it would depend on your crowd if it would go over well or not.
Also, all the ladies were given a ring pop to wear when they arrived b/c it looks like an engagement ring - so fun!
Personally most of the showers I've been involved w/ haven't had a real or huge theme...
my MOH did a cocktail party for me. It was so cute and fun . they had 2 specialty cocktails that they names after my fiance and I and lots of finger foods. it was great. she also had a game where everyone wrote out their favortie memory with me and i had to guess who wrote what and I got to keep them. it was so nice to see what people remembered of me.
i love the idea of bringing what you cant live without or the faveorite recipes especially if you are starting out. it would be a great way to start your recipes collections
