mold solutions?

We have two weeks left on our lease and I've just discovered mold growing in one of the ac ducts. These past four days I have been really sick, but didn't think mold was an issue until I got out of the house yesterday and realized how much better I was feeling. I came home and poked around sure enough we have mold spreading. I called our landlord and left a vm, I don't imagine I'll hear back from her anytime soon (which is the reason why we are moving). Does anyone have an EF ways to remove mold? Should I even mess with it? I really don't want to be breathing in bleach, but I'll bust it out if I have to. TIA!

Re: mold solutions?

  • If it's making you sick, I don't think I would mess with it.  I might find someone to test it and send my LL the bill if they don't respond in a reasonable time-frame.  This a health issue, no way would I let it go.

Depending on the type of mold, vinegar/ bleach might not be nearly enough.

I wouldn't mess with it, esp. since you're about to move out anyway. Let the LL deal with it.
  • This is where you've been!!!

I'd do a mix of vinegar & drops of tea tree oil. I've done this in our bathroom window area & it cleans up really well.  If it's just green mold or new, it's not toxic (but can still make you sick) - but if it's black mold, then your landlord definitely needs to take care of it ASAP with hazmat or something like that.
