Well the good news is we won't have to clean the carpets.

R called me to let me know that our new neighbor thought he'd help us out yesterday and water our front and backyard for us since the seller has already moved out.... he left the water on, forgot about it, and went to bed.

Our new house is flooded. Almost all of the flooring is destroyed, most of the bottom half of the walls (baseboards, etc) and we don't know yet about the appliances. His homeowners insurance is paying for everything... so while our escrow is being extended, we get to pick out new flooring & paint.

Can this week get any better?

  • OMG I'm so sorry. At least his homeowner's insurance is paying for it but what a pain. (((hugs)))
  • Didn't you want hardwood floors or tile or something anyway?  I feel like I remember hearing that.  Wow, when good intentions go way wrong... and then right all at the same time! hahah

Congrats at least you dont have to pay for it!

  • YAY for new floors and paint!! Now it will feel even more personalized to you guys!! :)

The carpet was thrashed - she has four dogs and the little ones spent the time between when our offer was accepted and our inspection using it as their very expensive potty pad. Our inspector told us to replace everything and not to even bother cleaning it.

  • wow, I didn't realize homeowner's insurance would cover something other than your own home.  good thing it's being fixed by someone other than you!
