veteran or armed services contact
I'm trying to get a veteran or service member to come talk to my elementary class about freedom, citizenship, our country, their job, ect. Nothing fancy really. My students have possibly no background knowledge on the topic. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm waiting to hear back from the VFW, American Legion, and a Catholic organization of veterans.
Getting class speakers is so hard in NYC. In my small town, I got the mayor to come talk to my student teaching class about government. And there also, I have family members in the VFW. It's funny how there are so many more people here and I have much less contacts for teaching.
