Re: ?Mamas & Mamas to Be: Weekly Check-in?

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? Jack will be 12 weeks on Friday.  Back to work on Monday.

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm great.  Jack is getting so big.  He's drooling like crazy and continues to try to shove both hands in there.  My mom is convinced he might be teething - I'm not so sure.  If he is he seems to be handling it well - not overly fussy, etc.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? nothing.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? can't think of anything right this second.

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received? do what works for your family :)

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. I guess we agree about everything so far.  I was usually the one to bring things up (where baby would sleep, circ, food, vaccines, etc) and then let DH do his own research to see what he would say or we would discuss it right away and we are always on the same page.  It will be nteresting to find out what we don't agree on.

He did balk at hiring a nanny - he didn't want a "stranger" in our house.  I worked as a nanny for a few years so I totally had a different perspective.  I guess he "won" b/c his mom is coming for a month and then his cousin is coming for the rest of the summer.  I guess it's a compromise - Jack gets one on one care until 6mo but it will be someone we know.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link. boring.  7th generation wipes were 50% off at our local grocery and they had a ton of $1 off/7th gen manufacturers coupons in those aisle coupon caddies.  It made them less than $1 a pack.  I bought 15 packs.

Also randomly I noticed that CA Baby calming gift sets are 9.98 at my local BRU, regular price is 19.99.  I bought one to give as a gift and 2 extras.

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.) My family had a baby shower after Jack was born - it was fun since we were team green.

Jack will be baptized soon - can set the date any time after our last baptismal class on Thursday.  We will have a party at our house after just for close family and possibly some of the other couples we met at baptism class.

Mamas: If you work outside of the home, how is it going?  What are your challenges.  I will find out next week :)

    (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

Libby is 15w2d old (about 3.5 months)

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

Libby let out a real chuckle yesterday...first one we've heard.  It was adorable! She seems to have developed her tickle reflex recently so when I am cleaning under her chin now it makes her laugh.  She's also getting more mobile...we find her in her crib in all sorts of strange positions....most recently with her feet up the side slats.  Too funny.  She looks like she's getting ready to work on getting up on her knees, etc.  I am always amazed at how fast she learns/develops!

She's growing again, we just moved her out of her 6-9's and into her 9-12's!

Oh and I've dusted off my blog and started posting again...I hadn't since January!  It feels good to get back to musing daily or every other day!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

4 month appt. in early June.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

I am learning more about Baby Led Weaning so that when it's time to introduce solids we're ready.  She's already starting to so an interest when we are eating and lately she's been imitating chewing when she watches us eat, it's too cute!

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received?

Trust your instincts...no one knows your baby better than you do.

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss.

Thankfully, J and I agree on basically everything that could be controversial.  Right now we may have a slightly difference of opinions on the use of "baby gadgets" like the Jumperoo, Swing, Activity Chair, Bouncy Chair, etc.  I think 15-20 minutes/day in ONE of these items is fine (maybe two, depending upon what's going on) but I am not a fan of just moving baby from one to the other to the next all day long.  My mom and J aren't doing that, but I fear they may be using them more often than I'd prefer.  However, I am not home with Libby and I feel I cannot dictate what they do with her (within reason) while I am at work.  At least they're not parking her in her seat/swing/jumper...they do interact with her, etc. so that's reassuringt to me.  I have decided that when I have her (evenings and the majority of the weekends) I just won't use them at all and hopefully that will provide some balance.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link.

My mom just bought Libby a Rainforest Jumperoo.  She loves the thing!

    image

Just right now I got my first BabySteal...these adorable Baby Banz sunglasses:

    image

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.)

Since we don't know anyone here we have not done this.  We will hopefully have some sort of potluck or BBQ in CA this summer and invite all of our friends and family to come meet Libby.  She'll just be 7 months old by then.

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What are you doing to keep BMS fun and sexy?

Mamas: If you work outside of the home, how is it going?  What are your challenges.  If you're a SAHM, how is it going and what are your challenges?

Oh boy, I could write a novel on this topic right now.  Long story short, I am having a very difficult time with the transition back to working full-time.  Libby is a happy baby spending her days with her daddy and/or grandma...it's me that's not handling it so well.

This is really my first week back fulltime (last week I was only in the office Wed-Fri) so I am trying to be gentle with myself and just go through this process.  I basically cry each day once I get home though.  My mom is worried about PPD but I really just think I am letting go of the feelings I am having while I am at work all day.  It doesn't help that I am feeling a little scrutinized since returning to work and that my dept. is under the "mircoscope" right now.

Finally, I feel that my choice to breastfeed is going to be a big issue come October when we have our 10 days conference in Seattle.  So I am doing my best to remain professional and arm myself with as much information as possible to negotiate that whole thing.  Mainly, I am just taking it one day at a time right now and sometimes just one hour or one minute and breathing as much as possible.

    See my siggy...

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 16w4d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling great. Aside from the weight gain, I don't haven't really had any other symptoms. It's been a really easy pregnancy thus far (knock on wood).

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Yes! Our big u/s is on May 28th, the day before we leave for our babymoon. So excited!! :-)

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received? Continue exercising. I am getting weight and getting bigger everyday but it just helps me feel good to stay active.

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. So far, both DH & I agree on the topics mentioned above and how we want to raise our LO in general. I guess one minor thing we don't see eye to eye on is how to decorate the nursery :-P. He wants a Hawaiian theme and I want a more contemporary design!

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  I don't think this is BR but I just bought a babydoll/cocktail dress that is on sale at David's Bridal for $39.99!! Score! I am going to a wedding in 3 weeks. Hopefully, it still fits me then lol.

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.) Since I am Catholic, I plan to have LO baptized when he/she is around 6 months. We'll probably invite family/close friends.

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What are you doing to keep BMS fun and sexy? Umm, what's BMS? Stick out tongue

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? tired and i think i have pupps because my belly is itching like crazy

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? next week we finally get to see our little man again

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received?

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. so far we agree on everything but we'll see when he gets here

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  i exchanged some baby gifts at BRU for the monitor and diaper bag i wanted.

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.) no but we will ba having a 4th of july bbq with family so i guess some may meet him then

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  29 weeks, 3 days

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm about to go completely bonkers with this laryngitis!!!  I have an appointment with my family doc tomorrow to see if we can get to the bottom of this.

The thing is......because of the pregnancy, I sooooo tired at the end of the work day as it is.  With the voice thing on top of that, I'm tired and achy all over due to the strain on my body as well as the strain on my voice.  I have 3 1/2 more weeks left of teaching 'til summer....I need my voice back!!!  Crying

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  Besides tomorrow for the reg. doc, I see my OB on Monday just for a check.  Nothing too exciting.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? Kicks can hurt!  I've had a few truly painful (as opposed to just a little uncomfortable) ones this week.  Stop that, little one!!!  Stick out tongue

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received? Don't stress....nothing at work is THAT important.  Don't plan your life around your job, plan your job around your life.

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. Honestly, just the name!  We agree easily on pretty much everything else.  My fav name by far is one that he says he doesn't hate, but doesn't love, either.  But he can't think of anything better.  So I say that's the one then!  He wants to talk about it some more.  And more.  And more.  I say let's tentatively say we'll go with that one, unless this LO looks like something else when he comes.  He needs more convincing......

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  This.  Thanks, Parrotgirl!!!

    image

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.)  As of now, we are not planning anything, but that may change.  I was raised Catholic, and MH is Jewish, but neither one of us is religious.  So I we're not planning a baptism or anything, and we're planning to circumcise him in the hospital, rather than at home with a rabbi.  Our families are mostly in WI and CA, so a party may not be that feasible.  I think people will just meet him whenever they come to visit in the weeks after, rather than an actual party.

This was taken last week (at 28 weeks).  I'm just getting around to posting it!

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    15w5d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

TIRED.  I never had the first tri fatigue that people told me I'd have.  I'm feeling really tired these days, but I think it's stress-related.  We're just about 100% sure MH (and hundreds of others) will be laid off next month due to a company merger.  I've also been having some mild lower back pain and abdominal twinges.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

We'll have our big u/s on May 24th!  Our family thinks we're having a boy.  Smile

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

Don't walk into BRU just to browse.  I was not prepared and was so overwhelmed by the experience.  Indifferent

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received?

The best advice I've received so far was about how to filter the advice others try to give me.  There's no "right" or "wrong".  We just need to find what works for us.

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss.

I wouldn't call this a "hot topic", but MH completely took me by surprise when he told me he thinks we should CD!  Knowing how both he and I are, I just assumed we would use disposables.  I wouldn't necessarily call ourselves "green" or "organic" (*gasp*  I know, I know), so I'm really struggling with this one.  I'd already heard about all the CD benefits for the environment and for baby, but I needed more info and did a ton of online research yesterday.  I mentioned to MH that there's a monthly CD 101-type class offered at a local baby retailer and he said he wants to go.  So I guess we're going.  Smile  I'm really happy he's taking such an interest in all of this.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link.

I bought an Udder Covers gift set ("Jones") using a discount code (Thanks Tara!) and it arrived really quickly.  I'll try to PIP when I get home.

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.)

I haven't even thought about this yet!

BONUS: PIP of your bump or LO or for TTCers, link to your chart!

I took a couple of bump pics, but don't think I will be posting them.  I don't have a cute little bump like Ericka.  It just looks like I had a really big lunch.  Stick out tongue

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What are you doing to keep BMS fun and sexy? Umm, what's BMS? Stick out tongue

I think it is "baby making sex".  Smile

    (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 23 weeks tomorrow!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? feeling good, but my tailbone is killing me.  some previously preg. friends are telling me that is part of the fun, but it hurts to sit sometimes.  I plan on starting to seriously do my prenatal yoga & hopefully that will make a difference

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? May 27 just regular checkup & then our babymoon!

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received? what I have tried to take in the most is to keep moving & exersing to make for an easier delivery & recovery and to let others help whenever they offer...which I am sure is going to be easier said than done in the beginning.  I dont' think of myself as too controlling but I think maybe I am thinking wrong!  Embarrassed

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. We are pretty much on the same page for everything, but we will see if that changes once baby is here (and not a baby anymore!)

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  I haven't purchased anything for baby yet.  I am going to register next weekend & then after the shower I will know better what we still need.  Since we are not finding out the gender, it helps not buy cute little boy or girl things.

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.) I am Catholic too so we will have the christening probably a few months after the baby is born.  My best friend is pg too & due almost exactly a month after me.  It would be perfect if we could have them christening together & then maybe do a joint party with close family & friends

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Still feeling great!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Beginning of June for a regular check-up.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? Nothing too much but I LOVE feeling him kick :)

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received? To take all of the advice with a grain of salt and do what's best for you and your baby (similar to what Nicole mentioned).

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. So far, so good.  We still have a bit to go and I'm sure more discussions will come up.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link. We bought our crib, dresser/change table and mattress (oh and a bedding set, even though I said I wouldn't bother buying one).  Our crib is Davinci (Million Dollar Baby) Kalani w/ matching dresser.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? They're 3 weeks and 1 day old today - my little boys are so much bigger than they were at birth!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Exhausted, disheartened about BFing...blah. Milestones...they've both started rolling onto their sides (not all the way onto their stomachs, just their sides), which surprised me. I didn't think they'd be doing that yet?

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Just their (and my) 6 week checkup.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? That so much poo can come out of such a little person. They've both had some stunningly massive loads in their diapers lol!

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received? Ummm...lol it's probably bad that I'm having a hard time thinking of anything! I've enjoyed having my mom here but it means it's been advice overload lately and I wouldn't agree with all of it. Hmm

Anyway, I think it would probably be: "Do what's best for your baby, your family, and you." There are soooo many pregnancy, childbirth and child raising theories, and they all work for someone but they don't all work for everyone. So do what's right in YOUR situation, and don't feel pressured into doing something that's clearly not working or guilty about trying something else.

ETA: I just read all the other replies - funny that so many of us have this as our response!

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. Hmmm. We don't really have one that I can think of. Day care was an issue for a while - Ben wanted to have his parents look after them because it would be free. I finally convinced him that was a bad idea though (for soooo many reasons!), so now he's on board. Smile

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link. Uhhhh...nothing. Seriously, I think the only things we've purchased since we brought the boys home are additional baby wipes. Boooooring! Sad

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.) Nothing planned - friends are trickling over a few at a time to see the little guys, but no party. I don't' think I could stay awake for one, let alone plan it lol!

Mamas: If you work outside of the home, how is it going?  What are your challenges.  If you're a SAHM, how is it going and what are your challenges? Ask me again in about 4.5 months lol - I'm going back to work in Oct.

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? tired and i think i have pupps because my belly is itching like crazy

Ohhhhh hon I'm sorry. Sad I think the pupps was possibly the worst of all my horrible pregnancy complications - the itchiness was just SO inescapable! I tried a ton of natural remedies but in the end the only thing that worked was cortisone cream that I got from my doctor.

    (((hugs)))

  • Hi Lori- Can you please add me to the list. EDD is June 16, 2010. Thanks mama!!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Still feeling great!! I just can't believe I only have about 4 weeks left!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next appt is May 22nd when I start my weekly appts :) MH and I are driving up to SF (~ 6 hour drive) this weekend to celebrate his grandpa's 90th bday and he's throwing out the first pitch at the Giants game! Pretty cool, right?!?

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? Babies don't need much- I get so overwhelmed with all the baby products out there and everything adds up. I've been going crazy researching for the best possible deals for everything Stick out tongue

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss.

So far we've agreed on most things. He's pretty laid back yet very involved.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link.

    Breast pump (exactly like Lelekay's)

    Monte Glider----definitely a splurge for us :)

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.) Nothing planned so far. We'll probably just have people come visit when we are ready for visitors.

  • Hi everyone! I'm a former Hawaii Knottie, back to join the crowd! Could you add me to the list too? We're expecting a baby boy on 7/17, and we're so excited!

    (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 30 weeks, 5 days

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm feeling pretty good still, except for the occasional heartburn episodes. Most recent news, I went to a breastfeeding class offered by the hospital yesterday. While most of the information was stuff I've already read, it was great being able to hold a doll and play with the breast pumps and other goodies.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next appointment is today! And we've got more classes coming up next week - infant CPR and lamaze/childbirth.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? At my BF class last night, I found out that formula has been a part of American culture since the 50's. It was marketed so well that they had mainstream America convinced they were supposed to use it. So we've actually had generations of mostly formula babies, and it's only in recent times that breastfeeding is making a comeback. I knew formula was pretty common when my mom had me, but I had no idea it's been a part of the culture for so long!

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received? Hmm, it's actually been a while since I've gotten any advice. Can't think of anything in particular right now.

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. How early to take off of work before baby comes. I was planning on working until the end, maybe working from home in the last week or two. DH thinks I should convince my doctor to get me out of work earlier. It's still under discussion, although I might bring it up to my doctor today to see what her opinion is on how long I should work.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link. Pretty boring, but we just got new pillow covers for existing throw pillows that will go in our nursery. I'm in a bit of a lull for the shopping, waiting until next month to go crazy with our must-have-before-baby-comes purchases.

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.) We will be doing one, it's a Chinese thing, where they introduce the baby (and re-introduce the mom from "isolation") at about one month old. I think it's going to be a casual open house type thing, but at the in-laws house.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? He turned 6 months on Mother's Day.

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  He's eating some food straight from the jar without having me mix it with oatmeal or rice cereal first.  Loves veggies, wants nothing to do with fruits!  I guess they are too sweet?  He makes a face like they are sour though.   Oh, and the last 2 nights, he slept for 8 hours (with one bought of crying, but he managed to get back to sleep after I walked him around for a min)!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  6 month checkup/shots tomorrow - wondering if they will give him flu shots?

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?  that teething makes them clingy - I mean I guess it makes sense, I just hadn't thought about it.

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received?  to be flexible - once you get used to something, it will change.  this helped with delivery b/c everyone's is different - you really ahve to be prepared to go with the flow... and after he got here - things are constantly changing

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss.  sleep training - we both know we have to start it, and we are both dreading it.  But he really has to start to learn how to fall asleep on his own, and preferably in the cosleeper or crib - I want my bed back.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link.  Nap Nanny - but I'm returning it because he's sitting up now and you can't have them in it when they can sit up - plus MH freaked when he saw how much it was.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B002GHBQZ8/ref=dp_image?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&img=MAIN&color_name=1

    or www.napnanny.com

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.)    We're planning on getting him baptized, but we have to go to church first!

Mamas: If you work outside of the home, how is it going?  What are your challenges.  If you're a SAHM, how is it going and what are your challenges?  I work outside the home, and it's hard.  It's not so hard to leave and come back (although sometimes it's REALLY hard to get ready for work after I've fed him and he's just looking at me!), but since MH is the SAH parent, I end up coming home early when he's sick, or if he needs to do something, and I'm having trouble getting all my hrs in at work - I've taken way too much vacation time.  Part of it is on me though - if I could get up earlier, it would probably be ok.

    new pics on the blog!

She's growing again, we just moved her out of her 6-9's and into her 9-12's!

WOW!  Who said she wasn't getting enough to eat?  Didn't someone say that to you?

  • imageeacerna:

I swear my bump also look like i ate breakfast, lunch and dinner in one sitting!! Stick out tongue. It's not a cute baby bump yet!

I think I was 25-30 weeks before mine stopped looking like I just ate too much.  Don't worry, it'll get there :)

Thanks. I am looking forward to it :-).

  • Yay, my first check-in!  Lori, can you add me to the list?  11/20/2010 - thank you!

    (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 12w5d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? NT scan yesterday, everything looked good, will have blood results in a few weeks.  I've been very lucky in that I've had very little nausea - only if I don't eat for too long.  Other than that, just been exhausted and sleeping a lot, but feeling good!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? in 4 weeks, for more blood.  in 8 weeks, for the "big" u/s!  we can't wait to find out if we really are having a boy, like we think we are.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week? for my first ultrasound, the hospital billed my insurance for $519!  sheez.

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received? all of the "do what works for you and your family" advice this week sounds pretty good to me Smile

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss. Hrm, we still haven't talked about a lot of things yet.  We're going to try to BF and CD for as long as we can.  MH assumed that if we have a boy, he'd be circumsized, but I asked him to read more about it and he agreed.  I still need to do a lot of research on vaccinations, and I don't think we have strong opinions on sleeping arrangements - we'll probably go with whatever works.  I slept with my parents until I was 5 or so Stick out tongue While I don't want that for selfish reasons (how did my parents put up with it?!), and I remember the transition being tough, once I did moved to my own bed, it was fine.  I think my (6 years younger) sister slept in her crib from day 1, haha.  Anyhow, for most of these things, I'm sure I'll end up doing most of the research, we'll discuss, I'll ask MH to educate himself if I want him to form his own opinion - otherwise he's pretty easy going and will likely go with my judgment.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link. Haven't really started buying stuff for ourselves yet - I'm kind of dreading it, b/c there's just so. much. stuff!  Going to try really hard to only get what I think the baby actually really needs.  But, did buy baby socks, and a rattle to make a little mini diaper cake for a friend's shower.  unfortunately, we seem to have neglected to take a photo of it...here I am finishing it up beforehand. the little roses are made of the socks.

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.) Hrm, hadn't thought about this.  Probably not though - will probably just have ppl over when we're ready for it.

BONUS: PIP of your bump or LO or for TTCers, link to your chart!  No bump yet, just bloat!  I kind of wish I had taken a profile shot of my belly before getting pg, just to have it to compare to Stick out tongue

Imagine my shock when I read the insurance bills - 15k + 2k (exclusively for infant care) for our hospital stay.  uhh, what?!?  SO glad I have excellent insurance, but that seems totally nuts to me considering I didn't have any medical interventions.  No wonder they practically forced us to stay an extra night when both my MW and Jack's ped had already discharged us.

**edit - so then DH added up all bills (prenatal, ultrasound, hospital, and Jack's in-office dr. appts. for the first 2 weeks of his life) = 22k.  I guess that is before they do the discount to the insurance co., which brought it down to 16ish, but still... WOW considering we were both totally healthy and didn't require anything extra (until the end I had a couple extra office appts - but the MW is a flat fee so that didn't make a difference) or any interventions.

this is how MH was.  He didn't really know there was an "alternative" haha.  He read up on it, we discussed it a little, and didn't really make a decision before birth (especially since we didn't know we were having a boy).  I didn't want to seem like I influenced it heavily, but I still don't think it should be just the dad's choice.  DH thinks he made the decision though, haha.  oh well.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    13 weeks today (3months+2d)

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

HALLELUJAH, she STTN two nights in a row!  Two nights ago she slept from 11:30-6:20.  I woke up and realized the sun was up.  Looked at the clock and it was 6:08.  B asked me if I had gotten up to feed her and I said no.  He said he checked on her at 5:45 because he thought something was wrong and she was fine.  Just where he left her.  I tried to fall back to sleep but she got up shortly after.  Last night she slept from about 11:15 - 5.  We haven't done anything different.  I guess it's just maturity?  Whatever it is, I'll take it.

Oh, actually.  The night she first STTN, I told her while I was bathing her that I'd buy her a car someday if she slept a long time.  I didn't think bribery would actually work on a 3 month old!  Stick out tongue

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

    She has shots next week.

    (4) What is one BR thing that you learned this week?

    (5) What's the best PG/BR advice you've received?

Same as the others - do what works for you.

    (6) What's the "hot topic" in your household regarding baby (ex. sleeping arrangements, circumcision, vaccinating, day care, CIO, etc.)?  Do you and DH agree or are you finding a compromise?  Discuss.

Nothing really.  He pretty much goes along with whatever I wanna do.

    (7) What's your latest BR purchase?  Bonus for PIP or Link.

I think it was the Belle carrier.  Got it on diaperswappers for $35 (reg $100) thanks to Jaime!

    (8) Did/Will you have a "meet the baby" party?  Christening or baby dedication? Any sort of planned celebration?  If so, what did you do (open house, BBQ, brunch, etc.)

We had 2 baby showers when we went to Hawaii in March.  Kaya was about 6 weeks.  She got to meet her aunties and uncles and cousins.  It was really nice.

Mamas: If you work outside of the home, how is it going?  What are your challenges.  If you're a SAHM, how is it going and what are your challenges?

I just went back to work this past week and so far it's been okay.  Of course, I only work two nights a week.  But the hardest part is that I get home at 7:30-ish in the morning and don't want to spend the entire day sleeping.  Plus, I have to wake up to nurse.  Basically, it's exhausting.  Tuesday I only slept about 3 hours total and then got up because B had to go out and do work.

I'm kind of glad to be working nights because I don't miss out on too much since she is mostly sleeping while I'm gone.
