Official Intro

Hi Ladies -

I posted on here a few times back in Feb (when I still lived in NY).  I'm officially living in MA now - and I wanted to introduce myself and say hello to the MA nesties.

I'm a former teacher, and will soon be a SAHM to a baby girl.  My DH and I bought a house in Acton - and will be two moving weeks from today!  (We're currently living with my Dad in Arlington - and eagerly waiting to close on our house).  I look forward to "meeting" all of you - and if anyone else is in the Acton area, I'd love to hear your recommendations of places to eat!  (Both DH and I are big foodies).

Re: Official Intro

  • Hi Beth!! Welcome again :)
  • Welcome! I remember you because we have the same due date :-) And you are moving really close to me! Our favorite place to eat out in Acton is Not Your Average Joes. It's a small chain here in Mass, but not nationwide, so it's not like going to Applebees or something.

PM me if you have any more specific questions about the area. Also, there's a group of about 5 of us that are due in July that got together a few weeks back. If we get together again and you would like to join us let me know. There is one girl in a town bordering both your town and mine, so the three of us are all really close. She and I are hoping to have mommy dates once the babies are here, and you are welcome to join too :-)

Hi, I live near Acton! Great town, great school system.

Not much help with rstaurants though as we usually find ourselves at chain places.

    Welcome!

  • Welcome back, and congrats on the little one who is on her way!

I think I remember you posting before.  We were previously living in NY as well.  I miss NYC, but it's nice to be around family again.

I'm not in the Acton area, but love Not Your Average Joes, so I would recommend it.  I'm a foodie, too, and not a fan of the big chains.
  • Official welcome! :)

Congrats on finding a house.  I don't know that area, unfortunately, but it sounds like you'll have plenty of Nestie company out there if you want it.  "See" you on the boards!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Thanks ladies!  It's great to "meet" you all!

For anyone in the area - I'd love to get together sometime.  And it would be really great to have mommy and baby playdates.

JCam - I also love Not Your Average Joes - I've never been to the Acton one, but my husband and I often go to the one in Arlington (where we're living for the next week and a half).  I'm sort of obsessed with their bread and the olive oil they serve it with (with the cheese and seasonings) - yum!

  • Ah well then you know all about it already! I too looove their bread and oil. Yummm. I'm trying to think of what else is there.. there are Scupper Jack's, Crossroads, and Daniella's in Nagog Park, over by the Littleton line. They are all just average restaurants though, nothing special. Scuppers is a little bit fancier, but still not necessarily fancy. Crossroads is just your average place. Daniella's is Mexican. None of them have bad food, but nothing we race back to either.

I'll page you on here next time we do a July moms gtg. Also the other girl who is in the next town over from both of us, the two of us were talking about going to Kimball's sometime soon, if you are interested in that :-)

  • Welcome!  Congrats on the house and the new little one.  I'm due just a few weeks before you so I'm sure we'll have lots to chat about.

I don't know your area well but have to say that my favorite thing at Not Your Average Joes is their bread and oil too.  I love that they put lots of cheese in it!
