Re: day trips from CLT?
Congrats on your new job!!
Mmmmm you could go to Asheville, to the Grove Park Inn
I have no idea how far it is from CLT, but the restaurant at Shelton Vineyards is very good.
Asheville is also a fun place to visit.
Congrats on the job!
There is a good brewery near Greenville, SC (about 1.5 hours from CLT) called Thomas Creek Brewery. DH and I are really looking forward to checking that one out, they supply my employer w/ beer.
I'd also look into Blowing Rock, NC- about 1.5 to 2 hours from CLT. They have a small but nice outlet mall, some great restaurants and beautiful scenery! You can also check out the furniture outlets in the Hickory area on your way here!
I second Blowing Rock. It's a such a cute little mountain town. There's a great restaurant right off the main road called Bistro Roca that I highly recommend.
And congrats again on your new job!
Congrats on your new job!
I was going to suggest Blowing Rock as well.
YAY, new job!!!!!! Congrats! (Details? Did I miss these?)
Also, I second Greenville, I've never been but love what I've heard!
Congrats on the new job! What will you be doing?
DH and I liked the Childress Vineyard. They have a bistro there so you can eat as well as drink!
thanks everyone for the congrats and ideas!
i haven't really posted about it on here, but i'll be working for a city around here as a code enforcement inspector. right up my alley!
Congratulations Charch! Was that the job you were waiting to hear back from?? That's SUCH good news!! I knew it was only a matter of time before you found something you'd really enjoy! Congratulations again!
Unfortunately, I too, have no other suggestions for you. Hey, are there any drive-in movies or maybe a roller rink you could go to? Sometime I enjoy doing something a little nostalgic to celebrate something new!!
AWESOME!! Did you ever decide if you were going to tackle a marathon or other running challenge??
Congrats charch!
The mountains are always a good option, but I second Bob's suggestion. Childress vineyards is really nice. I've only been once, but it was around this time of year and the vineyard was beautiful. Plus it's closer so you wouldn't have to spend as much of your day driving.
Either way, enjoy your celebration!
