Anyone have cellular shades?
I'm thinking of getting these for our new house. How do you like them? Are they easy to keep clean? Durable?
Re: Anyone have cellular shades?
We are thinking of getting some for our windows now....just haven't gotten around to it. The quote "budget blinds" gave us for them was ridiculous. I just haven't gotten to looking around for them. A lot of them have some extra stuff in them to assist in insulation so I would definitely splurge for those.
In other news, you have a PM.
We had them in our house growing up. I'm pretty sure they were expensive, but they seem to have stood the test of time. The one thing I didn't like about them were the cords, but they make cordless systems now. I'm not sure I ever did anything to clean them.
My mom must have taken care of that part.
I looked into getting them for our current house, but our windows aren't deep enough for inside mounts. They wouldn't hang correctly mounted from the outside because we have trim.
We just got some cordless ones from Lowe's for DD's room and the living room. They seem to be easier to dust than regular blinds. We have light filtering in the living room and they're just right - not too dark, not too light. We got room darkening for DD's room - one thing to watch for, the foil that lines them can get crinkled on the ends and you'll get little bits of light peeking through. DH had to return the first blinds because of that. I'm worried that DD will damage them (the foil, that is), but I supposed that's one of the perils of having a toddler.
Lowe's offers Levelor and will cut them to size while you wait. I'm much happier with them than the crappy blinds that are everywhere else in this house. And the cut to size ones at Lowe's were cheaper than the order to size ones from Penney's.
