Veggie Starts--Sunburnt?

So, MIL was at our house yesterday watching LO for a few hours. She apparently decided to water all of our veggie starts (that were outside hardening off) during the heat of the day, and sprayed the leaves rather than the ground. So, when I got back home, most of the starts looked sunburnt (the leaves are turning white/transparent).Thank you MIL.

I was planning on transplanting the seedlings into our beds tomorrow--but I'm wondering if I should do that now. Any advice on how to handle sunburnt plants? Is there still hope for any of them?

Re: Veggie Starts--Sunburnt?

  • I've had sunburned seedlings before.  You could either leave them in a dappled shade/part sun area, or just plant them out and hope for the best.  Either way they will probably need some time to recover.
