Possibly moving to Naperville area....

Can you tell me what are the best areas to live to commute to Naperville? I  would like DH to have a  decent (20 min or less) commute and be in an area where there are great schools.  What areas and what are the property taxes like????

THANKS

Re: Possibly moving to Naperville area....

  • Naperville is REALLY expensive!  Their schools are top-notch though!  We live in the newer part of Aurora which borders Naperville.  Our kids would go to Oswego schools, which are newer and have a fresh start.  Because it is Aurora, the PT aren't much.

North Aurora, Batavia, Geneva, Plainfield are all great little towns.

  • Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Warrenville.  Wheaton is right up there price wise with Naperville with top notch schools.  We are in Bartlett, it is a little further north, but I absolutley love it!
  • I live in a part of Hanover Park that used to be Bartlett, so we are still in the Bartlett school district which is supposed to be great.  Our area is very nice and really quiet too.
  • We live in Naperville, moved here last May, and this is our first year having to pay our real estate taxes. I will say that it initally seemed like a lot of money once you hear the number but when you break it down we pay less than 2% of what we bought our house for which we are pretty surprised about. We looked at a house in Plainfield that was 20K more and the taxes were doubled (CRAZY). People always say to me "You live in Naperville, it's so expensive there!" but we do not feel that is the case at all. Keep in mind we are in the central part of Naperville with District 203 schools if that helps.
  • We have an Aurora address but live 2 blocks from the Naperville border. We are in the Naperville school district, which is the best in the state. You can actually find a lot of reasonably priced homes right now because of the market.

We currently have our spacious 3 bed/ 2 bath townhome on the market because we're trying to relocate out of state. We have it priced way below what we paid for it. I'm not sure what your need are, but if you're interested in looking at it, I can send you the link to it.

You can email me at msp at yahoo dot com.

  • Naperville is fairly pricy. We are in Aurora, just next to Naperville, and received much more for our money!
  • I went to a high school in Naperville (Neuqua Valley). That's where I met my husband actually. He lived just barely in Bolingbrook (right next to naperville), where the taxes aren't quite so high, but somehow with zoning he still went to a Naperville school. That would be your best bet. I can't stress enough how great the Naperville schools are.. I would never have done so well in college if it wasn't for the high school I went to.
  • We just moved to Naperville in June.  Both my husband and I grew up in Naperville on the north side, but we know live on the southwest side of town (Modaff and 87th St.).  In our neighborhood, a 300K house usually has about $5800 worth of taxes each year.  We live in district 203 (great schools).  I highly recommend this area!!!
