Another Visiting LA Question

Hi Ladies,

Orlando Nestie with some questions - DH and I are visiting for the 1st time and I'm completely clueless.

We want to see all the hollywood type stuff, star walk of fame, hollywood sign, robertson, so I guess we'd stay in West Hollywood?

What is the best way to get around? Rent a car or the subway? We definately want to try to see as much as we can in the 2 days we'll be there

Any information you all can give is a huge help. Thanks :)

Re: Another Visiting LA Question

  • Ok, well first off, welcome!

Now, the subway is useless, it really doesn't go anywhere yet. . . so nix.

renting a car is great only if you know exactly where you want to go and are very good at reading a map. . .

What I recommend people to do it to take this bus:

Yes, it is a hop on hop off tour bus, but it goes everywhere, there is a guided tour and you  can get on and off at everything you want to see.  Trust me, you don't want to do all the driving in LA.  You will feel like you really saw all of LA and that's hard to do.

On where to stay, if you are going to do the bus tour, try to stay at one of the hotels on the stops or one close.  I can help you with that if you want.  Let me know if you want higher end or medium end price wise.

Let me know and good luck!

  • Thanks for the info!! The bus idea sounds great

We'll be booking a Marriott hotel (which one not sure yet since there are quite a few b/c of the points we have for free nights) So what would be better, a Marriott in downtown or a Marriott in Hollywood? Or are there any you've been to that you can recommend?

Now - LAX to Hotel - just a taxi? and is the pricing horrible or because of the route its flat rate?

    Thanks again!

Check with your hotel...they should have a shuttle. Or can arrange a van for pick-up. Taxis will charge much more.

    Thanks again!

  • Definitely stay in Hollywood!  There should be a shuttle or there is super shuttle too.
