miss mary bobo's?

We're going to Nashville next weekend and are going to drive to Lynchburg to see the Jack Daniels distillery.  I've read alot about Miss Mary Bobo's.  Is it worth the time and money to eat here?  TIA.

Re: miss mary bobo's?

  • It really depends on what you are looking for.  My coworkers rave about it, but I've read some prety bad reviews too.  From what I gather it is true southern cooking, so veggies will be well done, meats fried, ect.  The raves are all in line with what a true southerner loves and the complaints were from people that seemed younger, looking for something a little less country.  It's not going to be fancy or cutesy, but will be traditional and honest.

If you are looking for something a little more for the younger crowd you might want to look at Crocketts in Tullahoma.  It's a steakhouse of sorts with the big stuffed bear, wood floors and a bigscreen TV on the bar side.  They have some great JD recipes like the salmon (blackjack salmon maybe?) and their buffalo chips are yummy too.

  • I went there last fall. I liked it. If you're going to be in Lynchburg anyway, go eat there. The food is kind of greasy but its real Southern food and it tastes really good. They have people that tell you about the history of Lynchburg and Miss Mary Bobo's while you eat, and it's really interesting. And they sit you in groups so you're sitting at a table with random people from all different places across the country.

If you want to go, you have to make a reservation though.
