Changing my Last Name - weddingvendors.com

I am changing my last name and came across an online kit through weddingvendors.com.  The cost wasn't too much, so I went ahead and purchased it.  After seeing all the questions, I got a little scared of identity theft.  So, I didn't finish it.  Has anyone else used this?  Is it safe?

  • Those kits tend to be a waste of money. You have to put in the leg work to change your name, anyway. I didn't use a kit, so I can't vouch for it, but I would say that you can certainly go through the name-changing process without the help of a company. I wouldn't share all of my personal information with anyone but the agencies themselves. Start with the Social Security office and the DMV, and go from there. Good luck!
